u. s. b u. s. house. select committee investigating last year, storming of capitol hill has voted to subpoena, former us president donald trump, to testify. trump has never before been forced to give evidence before congress, not even during his to impeachment trials inside story coming up next. ah the whist is yet to come. that's the warning from the international monetary fund as it pilots the grim picture of the global economy. but what's behind the spiraling crisis, and what should be done to stop it? this is inside story. ah. hello, welcome to the program. i'm tom a crime, the international monetary fund and the world bank holding the annual meetings in washington, d. c. to discuss a number of global issues, the war and you crime persistence, supply chain disruptions and a looming recession. a topping the agenda just to name a few. the i am if says the world economy is hitting for what it calls stormy waters. as the many risk fact, as accumulates, a downgraded it's global growth projections for next year, and warned of a harsh world wide recession. if the fight against inflation is mishandled. a 3rd of the global economy expected to contract this year or next. the 3 largest economies, the united states, china, and the your area will continue to stall. in short, the worst is yet to come. and for many people, 2023 will feel like a recession. well, now the question remains, who will pick up the pieces? we'll live in on the economic collapse, for example, is accelerating in the absence of a government recovery plan. the international community has made clear the only way out of the crisis through a deal with the i m f. but we'll get to our guests in a moment. but 1st this report from st hotter in beirut, lebanon's economic crisis is heading into his 4th year. the state is nearly bankrupt. it can't buy fuel for electricity. infrastructure is falling apart. while institutions struggle to afford basic operating costs that a desperate need for hard currency, the international community made clear any funding will only come from the international monetary fund. that means we forming a dysfunctional system blamed on decades of management and corruption. but there hasn't been political will to ruling any, doesn't want to reform because it to undermine the structure of their power that has been going on for 30 years. now. the country's leaders have refused to open the books at the central bank. they fail to pass laws to investigate all financial crimes and stuff, billions of dollars being transferred abroad. instead, the shared interests of the political and financial elite have led to bank customers suffering losses and being denied access to their savings. any financial program between the i m, f and lebanon would involve passing structural reforms, and anti corruption measures to improve governance that's likely to hurt the interests of politicians accused of using the states for the interest of themselves and their associates. this was once a middle income country, but the local currency has lost value and its financial losses are estimated to amount to $72000000000.00. that is 4 times the size of the economy. official fe, they remain committed to the path laid out by the i m f. but there's still no consensus on a recovery plan. major reforms normally economic and was, can go on, i would say any. and on normal circumstances in lebanon, we need stability on the bill of political living all the while. one of the world's worst meltdowns deepens. by the day, seneca, there al jazeera battled. ah, well, it's bring in our guests now in brussels. we have daniel gross had director of the center for european policy studies in new delhi, mignon, decide economist and a member of the u. k. house of lords and in nairobi. ali can such a fort financial advisor and ceo of rich management. a will welcome to you. well, thank you very much for being on this edition of inside story. daniel, if i can start with you, are you used to work at the i am, if how solid or reliable are these forecasts mean? the m f is always extremely careful. it collects information from all member countries to have the suburban staff, all the ticket tours. so i think these forecasts are as reliable as you can do them right now. but if you have altered roles in publication, there's great uncertainty, little uncertainty above it might be a little bit better, but also lots of uncertainty below so it might get worse. that's all, but one could say at this point, economics, it's not a physical science, there's always a lot of uncertainty. okay, magnet. do you agree with the myth, grim outlook, the global economy as hitting for stormy waters and help you think things could gaze? yes i, i think i not only

u. s. territory of guam. let's get the reaction from the u. s. our white house correspondent, kimberly alcott joins us live. what is the white house saying about this? kimberly there is no question that the white house is viewing this as a dangerous and reckless decision on the part of north korea's calling this destabilizing and also saying that this shows a blatant disregard for not only un security council resolutions, but also international safety norms. now what we know is that shortly after this launch was conducted that the national security advisor jake sullivan, as well as the secretary of state antony blake and held calls with their only japanese counterparts, but also counterparts in south korea. and what we understand is that that is when that robust response was discussed in terms of that coordination that took place shortly after that launch, in terms of the practicing in the yellow sea, that joint exercise that was targeting, in terms of that joint military exercise. and we can expect that there will be similar actions in the future. the message that is being sent is one that the united states says that it is reaffirming its iron clad commitment to the defense of both japan as well as the republic of korea. now, what we should tell you is that this is certainly being viewed as a worrying sign of escalation here in the united states. one that is likely to be brought up and discussed the president of the united states as well as the vice president will be meeting for their daily brief, in the oval office very shortly as well as having a lunch. and we also know that the goal of the united states is to work with its partners and allies to really limit north korea's ballistic missile program. and that is one that is the goal is to do this in conjunction with partners and allies . so this is something that will be discuss further, we know, and we're expecting that we will likely get an update on this at the white house press secretaries daily briefing that is due in the coming hours of so whitehouse correspond. kimberly, how could reporting live there from washington? monday, thanks kimberly. to banks up and held up in lebanon as frustrated customers try to access their savings. this video is from one of the incident since a tour in the east raids on branches. my clients have taken place across the country during the last month. lebanon is dealing with a financial crisis. banks of imposed strict limits on withdrawals. al jazeera xena hodder report south from beirut. there have been more bank holes up across the country, really an incidents in eastern living on another incident in the south of the country. these are depositors who are angry. who is savings really have been trapped and bangs since late 2019. and these incidents continue to happen despite type of security measures. if you can see where other bands enable, people are no longer allowed to enter bank branches only one by one they, they're using atm machine transactions are now being done through a t. m. machines. of course, each bank has their own procedures put in place security measures after there was a wave of bank hold up. last month. even yesterday, there was another incident in the southern suburbs of baby toby's incidents continue to happen. when you talk to people who are standing outside banks, you really feel the frustration. a lot of people here are either civil servants, some or even army personnel, interior, internal security personnel who are coming here to get their salaries, their monthly wages. so this is, this is a financial crisis that has really hurt the population. there is anger towards a towards bank. they blame banks for imposing illegal capital controls because the capital controls have not been formalized by parliament. but at the same time, banks will argue and say that we have no other choice but to impose these capital controls. because the state is not giving us back to money because what happened here was that bank lend money to the states which is really being blamed for misusing the money for, for corruption, for decades that nearly bankrupt state cannot pay the banks back. and bank say they don't have enough money to get them to get for the people. it's believed a $100000000000.00 and deposits are trapped and banks and banks have approximately $20000000000.00. that is why they're giving these monthly withdrawals. turkey and lippy libya have 1st signed a joint deal to jointly, explorer oil and gas, and libby as met a rate mediterranean war says it happened during a visit to the north african nation by turkish foreign and defense ministers. it's unclear though, whether the agreement is part of a maritime border agreement that they signed in 2019 took it in. libby as claims angered greece, cyprus, and egypt. the u. s. says that they would impose further measures against iranian officials, responsible for cracked on protests. demonstrations had been held for days over the death of masa, a meaning in police custody last month. the 22 year old died off to being arrested for violating rules on the head, scarves that spring in. yes, been, i mean, zach, he has an international attorney focusing on geopolitical issues in the countries of the middle east and north africa. she wants to start live from washington. good to have you with us. are these sanctions targeted though they are going to make any difference? u. s. congress in aid to ukraine. and the opposition to it came from republicans. 57 republicans in the house of representatives voted against it. 11 u. s. senators, but it was all republicans voted against that. this new development appears to come from democratic democrats assigned this recent letter. now we must keep in mind, november 8th, the mid term congressional elections are coming up. americans will go to the polls and elect a new congress, and it appears that within the democratic party, there are some wish to distance themselves from biden's ukraine policy. there are democrats who don't want to be associated with the policies of the white house when it comes to ukraine. now another thing that's important to note is that another member of the us house of representatives, a republican, claudia tanning has come forward and said that biden isn't really running the country. she compared him to a wax dummy. she said that his cognitive abilities are not good and that his staff is essentially running the country on his behalf, that the president of united states is not really in charge. now, that's quite a dramatic thing for a member of the federal government member, the u. s. congress to come forward and say it appears the president united states and it does not have the cognitive ability to run the country and has been affect. we removed from power, his staffers are running the country. now that's quite an accusation to be floating around mainstream u. s. media. so these are, these are all things that should be taken into account as we see that now, it's not only republicans criticizing biden for his ukraine strategy. it's now 30 democrats in the house of representatives. senior journalist, well known for his pro opposition views, has been shot dead in kenya, where he supports his said he had fled to avoid persecution. we got more details from a local reporter in nairobi. it's here in kenya where the senior pakistani, investigative journalist ashanti shouting for shot dead on sunday night by the canyon police officers under unclear circumstances. according to the police, they say it was a case of mistaken identity. after the car he was in failed to st

u. s. our white house correspondent. kimberly how could, as with us, why does the u. s. a. kimberly feel that the next step here is to take this to the un security security council, which will attraction is not gonna get well this is villa, rural foundation of the foreign policy of the by the ministration. it is always been to work in conjunction with partners and ally. so it's not surprising that the decision of the bible restoration is to take this to the un security council. this is certainly something that was done at the request to have the white house at the same time, the well, this is being done and this one tracking diplomacy. we've also seen, as we've been talking about this display of force designed to really deter north korea that has been happening in the last 24 hours is we've been talking about not only has there been these joint exercises between the united states and south korea, those exercises that have been designed to show that this can really be something that can be deterred. should north korea decide to continue to pursue these tasks that have been done, such as the one that we saw on tuesday of that launch of the ballistic missile over japan. but also we've seen the joint exercises that took place between the united states and japan that saw the fighter jets doing their k enjoy exercises over the sea of japan. so this is really something the united states has done in conjunction with some of these bilateral. and trilateral actions, as we've been told, this is something that has been carefully coordinated will continue to be coordinated. as long as this diplomatic track is also be pursued to that end, we should point out that the white house press secretary, courage on pierre, said to the white house press corps late on tuesday. that this really underscore as though the real need for diplomacy. something that the white house has been inviting north korea to pursue all along. in fact, they say that there is an ongoing invitation for north korea to sit down without pre conditions, to engage in real dialogue in order to try and bring down the tensions and the escalations that continue to ramp up. and so this is the desire of the united states, even as they are now moving forward with discussions that the un security council. we should also point out that the president is set to travel to the state of florida today, where he will be surveying some of the hurricane damage from hurricane e n. and we are watching carefully to see what he might say about this in the coming our white house correspondent, kimberly how i could bet reporting live for washington. kimberly many facts or near tension has helped to focus attention on the demilitarized to running 250 kilometers across the korean peninsula. the dns z acts as a buffer between the 2 sides that are still technically at war. it's also a big draw for visitors. on the 0 robot, brian took a military guided tour of the area the truce village, japan, mon john, where the signing of the armistice ended the korean war nearly 70 years ago. it's a good barometer of the current mood on the korean peninsula. when we visited 3 years ago, border guards and tourists were clearly visible on the north korean side. to day, no one as the north has virtually cut itself off from the outside world. since the start of the pandemic, even more recently they were, i've not even seen them come out of the building with the demarcation line that leaders stepped across amidst summit diplomacy, hopes 3 years ago. now weeds grow on the northern side of it and in 2019 the military dispensed with their weapons and helmets. and a further sign of improving relations with the hopes, soldiers from both sides of the line would be able to mingle freely to day. that still hasn't happened where they were never able to come to an agreement on that. so that did not one of developing all the only signs of life on the northern side farm workers in distant fields. but on the southern side with restrictions because of the pandemic and the fear of swine flu being lifted, this border area is accessible once more, as one of the world's most heavily fortified borders. the dmc continues to fascinate and people are expected to come back once more in large numbers. just as relations across this divide into an you and unpredictable phase. for some that the attraction of such a hot border, new hiking trails have been created. a new observation post has been opened for visitors to peer into the north. a new attractions like this cable car offers rides into previously restricted areas. once you've signed an agreement to stick by the rules, a ride to spend time in the middle of the mind fields on a tense border, that current developments seem to ensure will keep up the tension levels. rob mcbride al jazeera on the demilitarized zone, the u. k. is prime ministers promising to steer britain through what she called? it's stormy days. let's trust we're speaking of the annual meeting of the conservative party. it's been up lumpy, stark for trust. trust rather, who took the chopped job a month ago at whose many budget sent financial markets into a spin. let's remember where we were. when i entered downing street average energy bills were predicted to saw above 6000 pounds a year. we faced the highest tax burden the our country had had for 70 years and we were told that we could do nothing about it. i didn't think sad that thing had to be that way. i knew that inaction would be unconscionable. as soon as paul brennan has had the conservative party conference in bombing, i think the lingering divisions in the conservative party are going to take a lot more than just a single short speech from the prime minister to heal. it's been a difficult for days for let's trust the party leadership, chancellor project quad things as well.

u. s. capital police force likely to respond to this? everything? well, this is really a matter of what the members of the house of representatives and the u. s. senate decide to do because the capitol police basically works for the members of congress . and unless there is both a statutory authority for the capitol police to expand their briette, their brief as it were to protect the relatives of those members of congress and not just the members themselves. then you're going to see these legislators spending of their own congressional funds to provide for their security. we are in an environment here in the united states where there is not just growing distrust of politicians and of other government officials. but we're seeing an increase in attempts to attack these people who are engaged in public service. and so this is a matter that could very well be on the agenda when members of congress come back after the mid term elections. but it really does come down to, can they find the political will to actually expand the number of capital police, expand their authority to protect relatives, as well as other members of congress, and whether the american public is going to go along with it. one thing that we have seen throughout of friday has been this question of, well, where's the secret service? what are you seeing? what are you hearing from the russians that you've met so far? yes, i mean that i, since i have this, you know, double thinking about what's going on on the one hand, the like to the idea of a great archer that put in time to sell to them. of course, the civilization that history and invincible washer, facing the west. they're trying to protect its values to protect its history and its future generations on so on. so they that, i mean at the core when they talk to them they, they, they like this idea. but when it comes to mobilizing their loved ones with the war, it's a different story. so they talk in these 2 in these 2 themes. you know, the one hand, they like put in a has some popularity. let's say, let's say, acknowledge that a good, great popularity actually, but at the same time, as you said it or they don't like how the war is conducted, they don't even like the idea of evading another country. many of them telling you, ukraine is ayesha. it's part of russia, they talk about the shell of history. the russia rush actually began in ukraine in a key key that so on. they say all of this, but when it comes to the action of going, crossing the border and killing people to get territory at what many of them don't like. that idea particularly becomes worse when they are personally asked to go and join us. those 2 people said and about them organization asked me, they also were very confused about it. i can, we can go into that issue like i one more thought i wanted to ask you about. and that was the ability to report freely. because at the very beginning of the russian invasion of ukraine, russians went, and now to call that invasion of war, it was a special miniature operation. how are you able to report on what is happening? quite honestly, before i came here, i was, i was a bit uncertain about how to go about this. i wasn't sure what to say, and i was hesitant. and when i came here, i got to know that things are not that difficult, at least for, for reporters. i'm the only red line, really what i'm told again. and again, here, the only red line is that if you report on casualties along russian soldiers, and if you take that, you should take that not from the official source of the ministry of defense, they have a daily briefing about the casualties and what's happening in the front line never, never tried to do that because that sort of line that us is ok. i buy, i've never, i, i, i was able to report everything to save it, to analyze, to give my opinion and so on. sometimes, you know, in a very limited sense of the word, but sort of, you know, to find what's going on and what the people say i'm, i'm a, val, thank you so much. joining us lie from moscow in russia, telling us some of the feeling down the ground from what rush is a feeling about the russian evasion of ukraine today. thank you, man. i said, i conversation. are russian sorry, on what is happening in ukraine, the russian invasion, the special military operation. however you want to describe it? are they sorry on that? here is our commit. that should be part of today. shut donnie. i conversation stanislaus natalia, albert, thank you for being part of ashley today, san a slab of welcome. please introduce yourself to audience around the world. really sure most go. i'm stanislaw bishop in political science and what you're at moscow state university at to happen, italia, welcome, please say hello to our audience around the world. hello, my name is natalia and i am president and founder of rush upon nation. get to have you an alba. welcome to the stream. please introduce yourself to audience. hello, i'm out there time for my students. and so if it's a book and now i'm a runaway or refugee or emigrant into okay, thank you albert natalie. i thought i thought i am just going to do a little recap stanislaus as to how we got from february the 24th to where we are right now. so every 24th of course, was the date when russia invaded ukraine. and there was a lot of pro government sentiment that jumped up. russians were very happy, many of them. when we go to september, the 21st, that's when president vladimir putin announces his pan to mobilize 300000 troops. and then the timber, not tobar protest, this protest breaking out, of course, russia and men play in the country cuz they're worried that they're going to be drafted down a slab. when you talk to the students that you teach, when you discuss what is happening in ukraine, all they keen on how president putin is doing and how the russian military is doing right now. what are you hearing? well, generally speaking, my students are mostly foreign students, mostly from china, by the way, so we're not discussing the current issues very deeply. but at the same time, of course, people feel certain uneasiness when asking me as a russian about the situation on the ground. and the general, of course, students are what they are, they want peace and they don't understand why the conflict between russia and ukraine could not be ended through diplomatic negotiations. so they just don't know. i do not understand why in the 21st century, we have to go to war or to special lives, reparation to decide our issues that, that the general point and about the, the current mood, let's say of the russians today. well, as margaret thatcher say, they're sad, there is no such thing as a society, right? so there are individual man, women and families. the same applies to russia. so some people back in february, they applauded. the idea of was launching the special needs reparation. but there were other people like myself who were really perplexed because i didn't see any good outcome for, for this, for, for these, for this campaign. because i am to pro ukrainian big, but because i'm for russian. so for russia and as my country, i don't see, and still i still do not see a good outcomes for rush natalia, we have fewer who are watching right now and they have questions and thoughts. i'm going to share a couple of them with you. so this one comes from one of our view, as he said, finally, russians are starting to realize the expansion is, was our thing of the past and only bring misery for both the attacking country and the defending country. that's an opinion for somebody who's been following what's been happening in russia and ukraine. italia, what are your thoughts? well, 1st of all, i think that the nitty important to call things as they are now and ration in regional re grading didn't start on february 24th of your pocket in for 1014. and we had an extension of what happened on february 24th was just the new stage of this war who came invasion of grain. and it's also important to understand that there are protests interrupted in the russian, not just optimization, wasn't december all this year. especially after the full scale invasion, the russians live, facing almost every day. there was only one day or 2 to over then for june 15th, when no one was detained for. and i will protest. and that even before my applications had dug them for thousands of people in jail, just, i was in the hundreds of thousands the rush and fled russia before again, this model is ation. on september 21. that was, it was there. if russia heard the printer for the moment, because again, there was a lot of support from the war who didn't care what was happening because it is because again, those with them to the war were mostly for us. the region for russia, mostly national republic. so major russians didn't feel impact of the war, but when we started to, in fact everybody of the family of 43 nation happening is now bigger. we have the most thor, even big brought us. 6 even more locations, emergency locations from russia, 2 weeks i'll but i, we've been listening to, to, russian reserve, if they've been caught up to serve. and they seem quite happy about being caught up and being drafted. let me play the comments 1st of all and then i'd really like to hear why you decided you didn't want to fight for your country. they have listened to the reserve. if it means it must be like this because president putin has already answered this question. if he ordered mobile is ation, not a total, but a partial one, it means everything is not that scary. it means he knows what he's doing. he's a clever person. only fit up the full speed ahead for mother rush out. this way, there is no fear any more about so you served in the army, you were formerly in the army, but you decided you were going to leave russia. so you don't get drafted in again. why? if after after being brought to the army 10 years ago, and after all my negative experience in the russian army, i became a political activists in the and to them in the beginning, the 20 and 2012. and so so it's is the experience. so the army and the experience of the state volumes that i suffered in the, in this, in an army, a made me made me a political activist. and so in the, in the 2020, to their reaction that my reaction as a witness, i left the liberal was over those. and so, if you consider the president is a dictator, is you consider as you'll state as a repressive state, repressed of for all form for the whole people. so that the war that was launched by the state, and by this president you see to the criminal war in which you don't want to take part. i'm going to show up the popularity ratings of president putin as they've changed from august all the way through to september. i'm going to show this for you so you can see it at home or wherever you're viewing from. so is the country going in the right direction? 67 percent? yes, 60 percent. not so much. this is after the draft was announced. do you approve of putins activities as present? 83 percent? yes. in august. 77 percent. not so much in september. these ratings are still high, sanisha have why? well, 1st of all, we're speaking about a tiny percentage of the population who actually agreed to answer these questions actually in these times, because to the best of my knowledge, it's about maybe only 2 in 10 persons. so about 20 percent just agreed to answer. and of course, if we agree to answer and they are, let's say a cognizant or if they are afraid that they can make it wrong. so to speak, answers. so the percentage of those who say that they support the current government or in sections, i mean it's, it gives us some would distorted picture of course, of reality at the same time. if we do not see too much protests nowadays doesn't, doesn't mean that people once again, applaud what's going on. because back in the day, i mean let's, let's face it during this of the, most of the period of this millage reparation. it was waged on the russian side by the professionals. member. that's why it's called special needed reparation. so special guys did the job, right. and so many people were basically opposed to to, to these a conflict they still remained in russia proper and didn't, didn't want to, to flee because they were against it. but still, it did not effect their lives so much. but when these a partial novelization, or was knowledge of or stay the be realize that now it's, it's their problem and not the problem of military professionals. and at the same time for, for some, it gave teacher that something may be, go in, not according to the original plan, right? if you have to draft more people to the army than well, something is maybe something is changing in the general attitude of the russian authorities on how to wage these nodes reparation and how to, how to win it if it's possible. of course, i completely agree with that. yes, it's very difficult to trust the opinion polls, especially when you have such as much in the country as a denial of a question about the war or report to the gramlin geno. ah, it's much higher than prior to the invasion. and the, as i said, the project immediately they see a lot of activity that people do in on the ground that i love the derailing train or taking a computer center from fi. and the just a lot of ethnic minority groups appear to started to are in for inform the community about this war and trying to explain how to terminate the contract. the how to board members ation like that because never had such a vibrant ethnic minority community. it because marcia is muslim, they live on time zone conference. but there's also because over 190 minority millennials of them i use as a can on for by the graham and sense we made the chance of being sent to pain. if the republican higher than the region read what to do with it to die. and this for, for photo does ample sort of that person. somebody is 9 times more or less from divine than from just now 3 times. so are over 3 jumps back for more and the people they're doing much more to start to save back. so we see a lot emitted vibrant activity. early we spoke to alina and alina is the director of the nordic ukraine forum. she had a very particular clean to view on the russian men who decided that they would rather flee russia than be drafted. this is what she told her. you are in the last month. there are thousands of people who live in russia due to the mobility, zation and the country. they should stay in russia and europe shouldn't have opened the borders because this people have glorified before in ukraine. this people have protested when the genocide was going on in butcher being. and so the only thing that made them go to the trees and go to europe was the fact that they will be killed in this war. moreover, for europe, it is a security issue because this people have the imperial colonial consciousness and tomorrow they will be asked him to have the russian goals where they are now. they are not victims. they are those who need to stop the voice that their country has started. i will, we have a, a number of people online who are trying to work out what poaching strategy is. and as a former member of the military, you might be able to help us out a little bit one view as says the putting became overconfident because in georgia, things went his way. and then again in crimea. and he thought he could do it a 3rd time again returning to ukraine. do you think that's the military strategy? vanished too bad? he quickly where it would not expecting anybody to be upset about this for a move in, when takeover didn't work that way. what he think, how, but ah, my old, my military experience, my army armina experience had nothing to do with the military, with the army. it was just about the washing. com. oh, and so it was not, it was definitely the album you have about as much, much experience as the people in i you cheap comment section. so that's what they would say. i would say you probably have more than they did. i was, i wasn't, i wasn't even allowed to to, to take her to take her rifle by her. i think, i think i want to move on to another. so he has done his life. and this is really about the economic impact of what this special military operation the russian invasion of ukraine is having on russia. this is yvonne, she spoke to us a little bit earlier. there's been an ongoing debate as to whether western sanctions have been doing enough to hurt the russian economy. but with putin's recent mobilization decree and a legal annexation of 4 ukrainian territories, we've entered into a new phase of the war where the russian economy will be directed toward prioritizing war time efforts. and the russian workforce is facing at minimum, a loss of hundreds of thousands of workers. this is occurring at the same time, the global energy prices are falling, the e u, as preparing to ban purchases of russian oil and the west is preparing new sanctions and an oil price cap against russia. all of this will likely undermine consumer confidence and the long term growth potential of the russian economy. i'm wondering santa claus is the impact of sanctions. is that now impacting how russians a feeling about war in ukraine? well 1st of all, just for, for the record, i completely disagree with the statement by the previous sticker. the ukraine and female said that all the russians are responsible. so i think these are viewed is cannibalistic. so it's sceptical, i think so. and to return to your question, well, generally speaking, of course, nowadays the prices are not skyrocketing, right? so, but a lot of people just tend to buy less and to say more because they nowadays they cannot plan for, for the future. so their horizons of planning. so to speak, they shrunk from let's say, a couple of years to a couple of weeks or a couple of days. that's the proble

snow in the sierra sure, looks like it will be windy and cold high elevation, though very high elevation, but it sure looks like it, wendy, for sure. here and in the mountains. they're going to be closer to the to the core of the law so but depending on which forecast solution verifies a couple of are pretty pretty impressive for the sierra this weekend. would be on saturday afternoon evening. so if you're going up there, we will get the windy and the cooler. we're still stuck in this pattern here with the high in the pacific northwest and the two jet streams one north and one, the weaker one south. it's about to break down those blocking patterns last about three weeks. well, guess what. this friday will be three weeks and then it looks like the pattern really changes so we'll go from warm to hot today. how to stay of the week, maybe the month for many. cooler weekend as this system digs in, so it's a quick warm up here started yesterday will peak out today, still warm for many on thursday, but it starts to drop friday and really falls off the table as we head towards saturday and probably even in the sunday very warm air, lofted that, along with an offshore breeze northeast north north, not strong, but it's there is going to equal a fast warm up here for many there's a few high clouds. most of those were south. nothing can what we had yesterday when we had some partly cloudy skies, even though it's still pretty warm the city by the way, hit 79 degrees yesterday, their 1st 70 plus reading this month. today will probably be in the eighties. here's the way it's looking here. i don't think it will take long. 50 felton, boulder creek, 56. santa cruz, 56 san martin. everyone's clothes here low fifties, though santa clare and campbell mid fifties cupertino, saratoga, there's your little northerly breeze or northeast in the oakland berkeley hills so downtown oakland will be in the mid eighties. after today, though, the pattern starts to change, and i mean big time here. so for today, it'll be seventies eighties anywhere near the water, upper eighties too low and mid nineties inland, but it doesn't last long. i mean, we're going to see much cooler pattern. the wind will be a big factor out of the northwest as we head towards late friday and into saturday, the sierra will get wind rain and maybe some high elevation snow, depending on which forecast model verifies , but the majority of them do brush this year with some rain and i think high elevation snow. it's deep enough and cold enough of it takes a path over them seventies eighties for many, and then inland. it's upper eighties too low and mid nineties tomorrow start to ease up a little bit, and it really drops friday. saturday pam thank you, steve. the accused stockton serial there instead. ktvu sm agus is live in our newsroom with the details on what the oakland city council decided last night. good morning, emma. good morning, pam. the oakland city council approved two motions at last night's meeting put forward by council member carol fife, who represents district three she's been urging for immediate action to help the 200 people who were recently displaced from the wood street encampment in west oakland. now the city is planning to allow them to temporarily live at the city least lot on beach street, but a long term solution still isn't clear the empty area just across the train tracks from the wood street encampment is one option five is pushing for, but it's part of the old oakland army base and has environmental hazards that need to be addressed. last night, the oakland city council approved fife's motion to seek a waiver from the governor's office and the department of toxic substances control to potentially clean up the area and make it fit for one housed residents to live there. here's what one woman who had lived in an rv at the wood street encampment for years, said yesterday at a protest outside oakland city hall. calling the oakland after the group had already shut down main street outside the proposal on the floor, but inside councilman mitchell farrell did preside over that virtual meeting. colleagues determined to move forward after last week's meetings were canceled over the controversy. we must get them to resign. but at the same time so long as we're able to retain quorum, we will continue to work to, uh, reform this city to help make sure that this that what has been enabled in these circumstances is resolved and that we are able to continue the work for the people of los angeles. one example of that work
