the three u.c. berkeley graduates were detained by iranian soldiers in 2009. >> hundreds of drunk driving cases may have to be tossed out that is because the breathalyzers used by police sometimes malfunctions. terry, could this affect other counties? >> it certainly could, san mateo county d.a., down in ventura done. here in santa clara county they are looking at 865 cases in san jose alone and another 133 cases in palo alto, all because of a breathalyzer advertised, it was not improved. take a look at the breathalyzer we're talking about. it was introduced this past november. to palo alto pd in april last year. it can give false readings because of a condensation problem with the device. they don't anticipate a large number of cases to be dismissed. this is used by officers to test for alcohol. they test coordination having the driver walk a straight line, then if arrested, they are required to give a blood or ur intest and give another breath test. but still, cases could be overturned. >> imagine
