u.c. berkeley. we are trying to figure out who is.t, you were with the berkeley college republicans. there has been attacks on signs from your you group. what's going on? >> there have been attacks on our group starting really intensifying from the beginning of this school year. it's been the election season. we have haa numberf assaults on our members, not just destruction of property. though that's happened, too. most recently we had that sign destroyed. and that was done by a student -- somebody who was a student of another college locally. and then next day we had our other sign destroyed by two people on bicycles and those people were students. so it's out of control. there is a sense here that we get accused of being the fascists. but these groups like the ones that showed up at the milo protest, those people are the modern-day fascists. they are the ones who prevent free speech. liz: who is together assaults? >> it varies. sometimes it's people from various student groups. sometimes they are students. there hasn't been a lot of

u.c. berkeley student is suing a professor claiming he groped and harassed her. the suit names john searle, professor emeritus of philosophy. he abruptly stopped teaching at the university this semester after 60 years. the former student was searle's assistant last summer. she claimed the 84-year-old also watched porn at work and made sexist comments and that when she complained, her salary was cut, and she was eventually fired. a u.c. berkeley spokesperson told abc7 news the school has not seen the complaint and is not able to comment. >>> a republican state senator says governor brown is playing a shell game with taxpayer money which could cost us all a rebate. ted gaines of el dorado says government spending at the state and local level is at the doorstep of the 1979g it dictates any rebate over that amount should be returned to taxpayers. the governor has labeled $22 million as nowhere money to avoid triggering that limit, according to a legislative analyst's office report. the department of finance says the budget complies with the constitution. >>> now a $3

u.c. berkeley police on the lookout for an armed robbery suspect. they were told to shelter in place 5:00 last night. officers searched for a man that was carrying a gun. it was called off an hour later with no arrests. >>> donations for a family killed in a plane crash in riverside. the go fund me page is nearing $29,000. we're learning one of the survivors of the crash has died. stacy pierce was one of two women thrown from the plane in the crash last week. she suffered burns on 90% of her body. both of her legs had to be amputated. she's a 46-year-old mother of four kids who was one of five people on board that flight. her mother and stepfather and family friend were also killed. we're expecting a report on this crash from nts investigators tomorrow. >>> 4:36. . antlin garcia torres murder trial continues this morning. defense will continue questioning dna evidence. a crime lab analyst testified investigators found five separate samples of one sperm on lamar's pants and socks. the fifth one did rule out garcia torres. defense is using that report

u.c. berkeley police suspects wanted in connection with last month's violence on campus. the images were captured during the height of the protest. some of the photos are unclear and a little difficult to make out. this is all part of the protest that turned violent the night of the scheduled appearance of by controversial former editor milo yiannopoulos. the university ended up cancelling that event when protests got out of hand. and some shocking cell phone video to show you, it appears to show about a dozen dirt bike riders driving erratically and beating up a driver on the freeway. this is 101 in san francisco. and the men involved are believed to be part of a well known gang. nbc bay area's reporter joins us from san francisco. what prompted this attack and have they caught these guys? >> reporter: we don't know that yet, and no, none of these men are in custody. investigators say these bikers act like they're above the law. they say they are a danger to the public and they want them off the streets before anyone else gets hurt. recovering, that is what the driver of

u.c. berkeley reported that structural problems in oroville back in 2008. those concerns, well, they went unheeded by state policy makers. so the problem, in fact, goes beyond oroville, that's the real issue because a recent support by the american society of civil engineers, the nation's premier civil engineering association, found that 48% of the state's 1400 daps were what they call high-hazard structures, in need of immediate maintenance. so the issue, as we've discussed, goes way past oroville. >> well this infra struck stur could be the difference between life and death. how is this happening? >> not surprisingly much the problem stems from the lack of capital investment by the state. so consider this. over the past 50 years california's capital investment in dams, leif vis, roads, other structure components has plummeted in the 1950s and '60s, california 2020 cents on every capital projects. by the 1980s it dropped to less than 5 cents per dollar and today it accounts for 1 cent per dollar. all this over time has led to a huge bill for dlefrd mainten

u.c. berkeley engineering professor emeritus. he has long analyzed what goes wrong in major infrastructure projects like the millennium. >> if they don't work, you're in deep do-do. >> reporter: in a report to the city in january, millennium's own veteran structural engineer ronald hamburger, detailed the findings. near the top of the building, he reports, the out riggers are about as half as seismic lick resilient as they should be. the next set down will be overtaxed by 20%. while not making any specific predictions, hamburger ruled out collapse. at the same time he warned that overstressed out riggers could break apart and suffer loss of strength. the building could be red tagged after the quake as a result, says veteran structural engineer joe ma fay. >> one of the draw backs of an outrigger designs, they're wonderful for winds. you have to be very careful with them for earthquakes. >> reporter: he says the question is just how severe a quake it would take to make the building a total loss. >> he could figure out what level o
