u.n. plaza is just around the corner and people have been struggling with conditions in the area, except on sundays. the farmers market takes over the space as it has for more than 40 years, but now the city wants to push them aside, farmers marketers, to make what they call improvements to the area. the farmers market began as a way to get people in the area better access to fresh produce. in fact, the presence of so many people on sundays discouraged so much open-air drug use in the area. it worked so well that the city asked the market to stay open all week long, but when they found out that wasn't possible the city instead decided to turn the plaza into a recreational area and move the farmers market to an adjacent parking lot. >> my understanding is that it was an experimental pilot project. we have been told that if it doesn't work out you can come right back onto the plaza. we have our doubts about that, but that is what we have been told. >> will not allow this to be as it is and help th
