reserve currency of the world. one of the reasons the u.s. is that thing is because it's relatively stable. if you put your money into u.s. dollars to buy treasuries or to buy property in miami or whatever it is you do with your money, the value of the currency doesn't tend to fluctuate all that much. if we send out a signal that we're looking to reduce the value of the u.s. dollar, what's the effect of all of the people, companies, sovereign fronts to invest in dollars because it's a safe currency? >> it's really hard to say because we just don't do that. i will say, though, that the dollar fluctuates pretty significantly. in fact, one of the ways you could tell when china and others were pegging their currency is because they didn't fluctuate. they kept it at a straight line. the u.s. dollar goes up and down. it's up 7%, 10% over the last few months. and we don't see dramatic changes in any of the kind of trades you just mentioned. so, i actually think that it would be worth our while to at least examine ways in which we can push back against those who misalign their currencies because it does lead to significant trade
