we've been told by u.s. navy officials that they were ambulatory. it is standard procedure to take them and check them out. its pretty similar to a bullet being shot out of a gun, the force that it takes on the human body. we don't yet know if there are any injuries or casualties within the complex that haven't yet been found. keep in mind it was the middle of the day. about 12:05 when the aircraft went down, went into the complex. so it is possible that some of the residents were at work but we just don't know. yet the extent of the damage on the ground beyond what we're seeing from our affiliate pictures. >> i think everybody watching this with us can tell the scope of the damage that happened at this apartment complex. in a highly populated area of virginia beach. stand by. mark atkinson joins me now. an eyewitness to the crash. what did you witness? >> well, i came to the crash about three minutes afterwards. my son called me who was out and about and saw it go down. he called me. we got here about two or three minutes afterwards because we live
