admiral, you spoke about the drug interdiction of the u.s. navy with regard to the area of the world where you have to be dealing. we have a lot of other u.s. government agencies that have missions in this regard. could you be a little more specific about the way that the u.s. navy complements these issues or the areas in which it has a primary responsibility? >> senator, joint interagency task force, located in key west, it's a principle armed for southern command. it gets after this problem. the navy works for them in the detection monitoring and interdiction phase of law enforcement doing the actual interdiction. every agency that is involved in the anti-drug program has representatives there in key west and also in miami. it is a government interagency team effort. last year was a record number of interdiction's for the joint interagency task force. with the supply being what it is it doesn't begin to put a dent in the problem. it's a supply demand problem and a government problem to get after it. >> excuse me. as to the navy's specific missio
