northern virginia community college. >> reporter: one of the people whose identity was stolen is a u.s. service member, who was hospitalized after being wounded in afghanistan. the grand jury indictment handed down this afternoon in the eastern district of virginia accuses aunt of stealing $34,548 from northern virginia community college last year. prosecutors say taylor and nixon stole the identities of four people, registered them as students at the school. according to the indictment, the pair used their own addresses for those students. that's where the college sent loan money in excess of required school expenses. a spokesman for the school said the discrepancy was discovered by a sharp-eye employee who contacted police. most of the students we spoke to called it an outrage. >> that's crazy. i use fafsa to pay for these courses. to hear somebody is ripping the money off and using it when they shouldn't, that doesn't sit well with me. >> that's awful, truly awful. it's unfortunate there are many people who need financial help d of this kind of university, of any university, but parti
