house, the u.s. senate, governor, state legislators top to bottom this is a hugely important midterm election. so, what is this election going to be about? and i try to think in terms of metaphors. and i've got two. one is boring from charles dickens the tale of two cities, but this is the tale of two elections. and we have one election this year that's for the u.s. senate. and it is being fought in a very red america, where of the 17 most -- excuse me, of the 13 most competitive u.s. senate rices this year, 13, ten out of 13 are in states that president trump a carried. of the 17 senate race where there's the slightest bit of doubt about the outcome, 14 out of 17 are in states that president trump carried. so, this is the most one-sided advantage to one party u.s. senate map we've seen in modern history, and it's largely being fought in states where president trump's approval ratings are higher than his disapproval ratings. it's being fought in one america. then you have the house and everything else. and

the u.s. senate will be in one america and everything else was going to be over in a purple and with some blue mixed in. that's exactly the way things panned out. the senate races were fought redely in conservative, states. states that had substantial small-town populations. the other races had a strong component of suburbs and urbanized areas. that panned out a lot like what we thought. made a really mbc good point that if you look at the state exit polls and you look at the results that they withed up really closely where president trump's job approval rating, where his approval ratings were over 50% republicans did pretty well. real well, in fact. to the extent that they were below 50, not so well. , i know luke has already gone through this so i should skip through it quickly. it looks like republicans -- that are still some out -- republicans knocked off three incumbents. indiana, north dakota, missouri. then they lost game killer. we are still waiting to hear about arizona, florida and montana.
