so for me i know, on the u.s. side of the border, i won't get this story. so i want to juarez and scouring the town, migrant shelter and went to this point where all deported immigrants are dropped off and i started talking to people there and i found this woman who had been separated from her son. of was from mexico, an area mexico that has a lot of drug cartel activity. she and her son. her son was older, he was 17 and their house was burned down by a ocal cartel. there was a cartel turf war going on and fleeing that violence and when they crossed into the u.s., they were separated and her son was immediately deported back to mexico. and she was sent to detention and said you can request asylum and she's thinking my son was just sent back to a very dangerous area where he is alone and i'm going to sit in detention for six months to a year waiting to request asylum. she self-deported, i'm going back to get my son. met her in juarez where she had just been deported. and when i was interviewing her for this story, she got a little ding on her phone, a notifi
