terry mcsweeney is live at uc berkeley with details. reporter: uc students over the years have come up with plans to -- to end all wars and free all people when you hear about a plan to do away with tuition, there's a powerful man not rolling his eyes, uc president mark yudof has heard the plan and likes the plan. he has told executives to take look at it, see if it can work. it is called the uc student investment proposal. it would abolish tuition at all uc campuses right now $12,000 a year students would pay back after they got into the workforce. members of the group came up with this idea they say it would triple uc revenues over the next 20 years one of the reasons the president likes the plan. they say by the 7th year the university would be in the black on this plan. take a look at what we are talking blood pressure. the pay back would be 5% of your income in 20 years after you graduate. students say the average student right now graduate, i should say makes $50,000 a year over 20 years that would translate into $50,000 worth of p

i was one of the students at uc berkeley, participated in drug abuse seminars training speed up that is why i kind of like the part about the free clinic, and being a native san franciscan, for a long time we have excessive amounts of drug problems in the county. i wanted to make note of mr. warren hellman's contribution to such a free clinic. another clinical aspect is, i do not think that he is going to be remembered too much in a few years, so i was thinking maybe we can try to bring up something that has to do with his character. things like horseback, equestrian. when you had the name changed to hollow, and right away and thought about washington irving, sleepy hollow, i thought that somewhere along the line, we should be able to direct a very nice memorial for him, such as a horseman or have a plaque, something like that, because he contributed so much to the county of san francisco. with that said, i do not know whether or not it is doable. then i was playing a little bit on, would it be a headless horseman? . >> it is mysterious, and to tie it back to science, i had a graduate student at uc-berkeley who came to work with me at mcgill. for his doctoral dissertation, he wanted to study the extent to which we can understand what musicians are doing by looking at them, observing their movement. it is worth pointing out that there cannot be any music without movement, no sound without movement. sound is the molecules in the air vibrating in particular ways. there is no sound in a vacuum because there are no molecules to vibrate. all sound, including music, has to begin with some motion, movement. in the case of movement, -- music, it is the body moving, somebody pressing a key, striking, blowing, plucking. even singing, there is movement of air through the vocal cords. what bradley did is he took performances of musicians, in this case, a clarinetist playing stravinsky, and we had people come into the laboratory and we turn off the sound. as they listened, they had to write what they heard going on emotional and structurally. a different group of people came in and they had the sound on and th
