on saturday the protesters went back to the uc berkeley plot of land in albany to harvest crops theyplanted last spring. the protesters want the land to be used as an urban farm. the uc berkeley plans to build a whole foods grocery store and senior housing complex around that part of the land. we sent our ktvu camera out to plot of land to check on things and all quiet no one was around protesters do not seem to be occupying the site as they did back in april and may. because of the increased interest in the city council meeting tonight. city leaders move their regular council meeting location from albany city hall to the albany community center. the meeting starts at 7:30. >>> student leaders at city college of san francisco have called an emergency meeting tonight over threats the school might have to close. the organization that accredits community colleges have given ccsf eight months to figure out how to deal with its financial problems. the groups report also criticizes the school's leadership as being weak. the meeting is set for 6:00 tonight at the lgbt center at 1800 market

. >>> in just a few hours uc regents will debate the cost of college tuition and protestors say they plan to give them an ear fall. christien kafton joins us live from berkeley with more on what to expect today. christien. >> reporter: good morning. uc regents are set to meet this morning. a vote on a prosed tuition freeze for under grads. students here from uc berkeley are planning to protest the possibility of a fee increase for graduate students. students say they will be at today's meeting and will be holding what they are calling a zombie takeover during the public comment period. while they are expected to freeze tuition for under grads they may vote to increase fees for professional schools. that would mean like uc berkeley school of business and nursing programs. the increases would make uc professional programs among the most expensive in the nation. students say they are worried the regents will bump fees if the governors tax initiative fails. we are here at the uc berkeley campus waiting to find graduate students to find out what they think about the possibility of a fee increase. we will have continuing coverage. for now we are live on the uc ber

supervisor chu: i came to the area to pursue a master's degree in public policy at the uc- berkeley schooler since then, i fell in love with what a wonderful area the bay area is. >> what motivated your interest in politics? supervisor chu: to be frank, i never saw myself in an elected position at all. i had grown up in southern california, and during the first day of the los angeles riots, my parents had their cars stolen at gunpoint. they were left out and had to pay someone $100 to get back to chinatown. it really influenced me. we had a restaurant at the time, and at the time, we were always worried, watching the news, to see whether or not the restaurant would be looted, whether or not it would go up in fire. that was something that was a big concern and worry for my family at the time. i remember thinking even at that age how important it was to consider what the economics were in communities, whether people had or felt that they had opportunities or did not have opportunities, and what role it was that government played in those outcomes. that is what really put me on the path to pu
