it's still north of ukiah, so if you're in that area, and you're traveling north, you will be affected by this rain moving in. now, we are going to see it int parts of the north bay later on this morning, as we track it with our storm ranger. here is a live look outside in palo alto. there the rain will be arriving right at about noon, so we will talk more about the timing in your microclimate coming up, aymike, 101 is closed. >> i was going to use that same shot. here it is behind us, 101 northbound coming up toward university, that's the exit right there. the stretch between embarcadero and university saw very, very light traffic, almost no traffic up until just a few minutes ago. they may have opened that closure that was going on at the embarcadero overcrossing there overnight. it's not clear from the caltrans worker load. you may have to get off and back job to the freeway. stretch still closed on the map sensors but we'll open those back up once we get the all clear from caltrans. the rest of the bay moves smoothly. i have something i'm checking out in san pablo, coming up. >>> p

as we get a closering l look, w seeing showers north of ukiah. driving up north 101, be mindful it's starting to get slick as the rain makes its way in. time frame 1:30 in the afternoon, in the afternoon, san francisco, oakland and moving through the north bay. the south bay may not see that rain until about the time for the evening commute, which is going to slow you down even more. so we'll talk more about that in just a few minutes and, mike, you're getting some better news for the bay. >> it's weird at 6:08 in the morning. we typically see a big build. it's a slower build, after thanksgiving toward the end of the year, we tend to see the morning commutes build more gradually and then the afternoon and evenings cross-town traffic a lot more of an issue. south bay no major problems, a build for hayward, 680 through pleasanton and a blob of fog near the tri valley. upper east shore still just 20 minutes getting down through berkeley and in toward the maze and the maze itself off of 24, big recovery over the last ten minutes. that earlier crash h

you can see through ukiah and santa rosa, that second system makes its way in. if i fast forward this timeline, around 10:00 p.m., the system begins to really trek its way down. moving southward at the golden gate bridge, even to san jose. we'll get the rain shadow but san francisco, pleasanton to cause concern out on the roads as well. hopefully you'll be way too full from the turkey to drive and you'll be able to have a sleepover because that rain will hold on tight through the overnight hours. it looks like it's mainly stalling over the north bay area through ukiah, santa rosa, napa. half moon bay through the peninsula and mountains, we'll keep a lot of this moisture. this is through tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. we're definitely not in the clear of the rain. you can see it lingers all day friday as that system begins to trek out because it's slower moving from the models, we might even catch some showers now even early saturday morning at about 4:30 a.m. we'll get the rest of that system moving through san jose, pleasanton and the morgan hill area. as far as your es

by about 8:00 ukiah seeing the rain, most of the north bay will see it around 9:00 to 10:00 and then for san francisco the east bay that rain will be moving through in the early afternoon hours and then approaching the south bay. before that evening commute. a lot of this quickly rolls through, we will be left with a few spotty showers tomorrow evening and then looking at the time, 9:30 and much of the rain has already left. then as we go into wednesday, in the afternoon there still will be some rain in the north bay, while the rest of the bay area doesn't see anything more than mostly cloudy skies. then into late wednesday night into early thursday morning there will be a heavier round of rain moving in. this one could pack a little bit more of a punch with the potential of heavy downpours and gusty winds which may cause some more problems and then this continues throughout much of the day on thursday with some scattered showers before this wraps up early on friday morning. how much rain are we looking at here? the first round will bring us about a tenth o maybe a quarter of an inch

and ukiah seeing a high of 69 degrees. jose reaching 76 degrees, and morgan hill looking at a high of 77 degrees. now, the red flag warning for the bay area has expired. but as we look ahead, there will be a new fire danger developing saturday night into monday morning. so a new fire weather watch has been issued for those areas, especially near the campfire and parts of the central and sacramento valleys and extending over toward lake county. so that's something we'll be watching going into the weekend. so it's been quite a while since we've had some rain. and as we look at our rainfall deficit, we are lacking about 2 inches of rain in santa rosa, and we've measured about 38% of average. but in other parts of the bay area, it is basically near zero. we haven't measured any rain since october 1st. and so we're getting into some really dry conditions here with most of us lacking an inch or more across the bay area. and then as we look ahead to the forecast, still high pressure in control. that will keep us from seeing any r

here we are at 1:00 in the morning, we see the rain in santa rosa and ukiah, making it into san francisco parts of the east bay and down to the south bay at 6:00 in the morning. so this will be an early round of rain that moves fairly quickly at noon. we're starting to see that activity tapering off as the cold front sweeps on through, and for the rest of the day, our rain chances will be decreasing. how much will this bring us? we look at a quarter to half an inch across much of the bay area. quick one and done and this brings in additional snow for the sierra. that's a live look at squaw valley. it is beautiful and today is a pretty good day to travel, because the next round of snow that falls tomorrow could bring some additional snowfall totals, up to about ten inches in kingvale. this system for tomorrow, and the next one will be moving in on tuesday out there in the pacific and will bring us cool and wet weather. we're looking at highs in the low 50s next week, morning temperatures are going to be chilly, dropping down into the 30s and low 40s, and then after that, we're going to see
