that part of the city is greatly underserved. the waterfront recreation, and that particular project was a major -- this particular e.i.r. and the plans for the america's cup seem to be kind of looking at that particular project site a little differently. the next point, and you have to really look is the treasure island plan. the treasure island sailing center is the only public water access non-profit organization on treasure island serving families. the deir identifies the parking lot, a very small area, as a helipad location. helicopters and water sport in that location do not mix very well. i have to soon that is a contradiction in the way we looked at that e.i.r. it goes on to say adaptively reused for the america's cup. i hope there will be significant push back to properly sort that out. there is a series of implementation plans i would have liked to have in order to look at the e.i.r. and look at the impact plan. i have never seen the plan. i am not familiar of any draft of the park event operations plan. only in draft f

they are clearly underserved populations, the city and county of public health. one of the key issues to really underscore is why we're here. we're healthy, but we're here. i think one of the other important things to point out, it is not all american and alaskan natives. we have a post-colonial stress disorder. we don't come to city funded programs and therefore we must not exist or we are very healthy. that is not the case when you look at all of the other statistics. in talking about all of these health disparities, one of the key things that we helped speak to that we demonstrate when asking for funding, what is that we have to show need -- one is that we have to show need. we have statistics and numbers that really impact whether we are going to get funding or not. it is very clear that we have a lot of health issues. we also have to demonstrate and talk about, maybe explain how to address some of these services. if you do some research, they are not effective for native people or effective for people that come from cultural backgrounds. we have to go back a

they've come to work together to enliven the effort to create a place where the underserved youth can about camera works. this is been on my mind for a long time. do you know the old original joe's place? they have brought in a theater piano fight. that is a wonderful addition. it will be starting this fall. the dugan family will locate in north beach. i have been a patron of the original joe's for many years. i want to specifically thank the piano and fight -- piano fight theater. thank you for starting the wonderful theater. i know you will be asking for a grant. you have been a wonderful partner in looking out for the start-ups and helping them along, helping to identify where they can be and how they can get started. we both started the arts foundation at the corner of sixth and market. there are so many people to thank tonight. i wanted to begin with this list, the freshest efforts to start up. it is a signal to you that we want to thank you all for reinvigorating this central market with your arts activity, innovation, enthusiasm. there is not going to be a store front available

remember going with my mother as part of our jewish organization and synagogue, and we went into underserved parts of memphis, tennessee and delivered fresh fruits and vegetables. this was 1968 and 1969. and it is about time in this country, and it is about time that we have leaders like fresh & easy, but it is also about time that communities like bay view and the city, mr. mayor -- thank you. david, thank you. sophie, for your leadership, thank you. it is time that bayview gets recognized for seizing what we have all known, and that is that communities come together when we do things like this to make sure that it's not just us, but our children and grandchildren can now not have to walk, not get on buses, not have to struggle and not have to start to get access to fresh fruits and vegetables. so i want to say congratulations to all of you. i hope you'll think ahead in the future, as i think all of us are doing. i cannot help this morning but thinking back to being a 6-year- old and a 7-year-old and hoping that one day we would have organizations like this of communities and organizations
