and we know that every district in san francisco has unhoused population. i'm looking at the data right now. every last district could actually use a safe place for our unhoused population to be able to stay. right now in district 10, we have two navigation centers. and we are working on our third one. we have several nav -- not several, we have navigation centers in district 6, district 9, and we have a triage facility now in district 11. so we have a chunk of this board that is working very hard to address the issues that exist across the city when it comes to our unhoused population. we've even worked closely together to have some of our families at sfusd school sites here in san francisco. so there is no way we can all stand by and say we want to do everything we can to address homelessness and provide safe places for unhoused population without everyone stepping up. i know our president has talked about the possibility of navigation centers and shelters in his district. i know supervisor peskin has talked about having a navigation center in his distric

we really respect all of our neighbor's housed and unhoused. we want to hear their concerns and we want to understand where they are coming from. we know as san francisco cans ourselves that homelessness is not only affecting people without a home, but affecting everyone and it will take everyone to make a real difference. what we like to do is we do host presentations and learning opportunities to talk about misconceptions and stigma, but also what can you actually do, what are the resources available if someone is near your home in need. what are the resources you can use to call, that you can offer? we provide that information and then, of course we engage the neighbors as volunteers and we go to a new district for example the richmond district, we go once a month. we ask richmond residents to join us in the effort to walk the community with us, to inform us about what their needs are in the area so it is both listening and understanding and stigma reduction but also action and involvementment >> yes. and the action then carla, the actual se

i hear so often people calling me and saying there is someone who is unhoused and has a mental health condition and in crisis and they don't want to call the police on them because they know that will be harmful to whatever they're experiencing. we at the coalition on homelessness don't have a good answer for them. i ask that in the interim that all of these systems are being built and we're thinking thoughtfully about these things, that we consider the real traumatic experiences that unhoused people are facing. we do not criminalize people simply for being poor and simply for being homeless. i was at an encampment that was swept yesterday at 6:00 a.m. a lot of these folks had a dual diagnosis. cops were there, h.o.t. team wasn't there. in the interim, please let's not criminalize people and just let them survive and exist. >> thank you. next speaker, please. >> are you proposing to create an auxiliary system to treat mental illness? how do you intend to structure and monitor it? what kinds of controls will exist to safeguard patients, to monitor prescriptions, program costs, potentia

organizations created in 2011 buy myself and a fellow veteran who was unhoused at the time. the project was created to allow veterans to paint the stories of the murals on the wall running geary to o'farrell and our project is half a block away from the dispensary and as a reference 25 feet from the church. our work focuses on providing the therapeutic outlets that those in the military and past have experienced trauma and some of the most vulnerable residents. over the years we have grown the organization to become a valuable resource for much of the entire community both housed, unhosed, veteran and non-veteran. we have transformed shannon to into a community-based art gallery. it tells the story of the neighborhood and serves as a safe space. this is a safe space right next to the church for young people, senior, housed and unhoused residents. we run a community flea market in shannon alley and hold three block parties. the organization believes that this dispensary would be a beneficial addition to the tenderloin with its own unique identity. and with the passing of prop
