two csx workers were killed outside union station late last night.t caused trains to be suspended until 9:00 this morning. investigators are trying to figure out why the workers were on the tracks in the first place. we have been monitoring the problem at 30th street station and joins us now with an update. what's the late snes. >> reporter: we have seen people kind of huddled around this big door there hoping when it starts to click they will see an update of when they will get going to their final destinations. everything is deplayed by an hour 130 30, hour 45 or more. two employees were struck and killed by an amtrak train late last night. they were closed for several hours as investigators worked to determine how the accident happened. the tracks did reopen earlier this morning. amtrak said it could take more time for service along the northeast corridor get back to normal. they are advising customers to check out their web sites before they come to the station just to make sure everything is running on time and as i said, things are not running

krysten leone at union station tracking the impact this is having on train service but we weren't toith melanie alnwick with the latest from the investigation. mel? >> reporter: good morning, guys. we're seeing acela express rain coming through very very slowly on these tracks so at least that one particular track has been cleared by investigators but clearly you can also there there's still many, many investigators here on the scene on that parallel track that the csx48 train was on. so we had two trains next to each other the amtrak train was passing by and cxs train for some reason was stopped on the tracks. were don't know if that was a planned stop or an incidental stop but for some reason two crew members of the csx train were on the tracks. they are not track workers. they are train 48 crew members. so we don't know why at this point they were on the tracks. whether that amtrak train should have known or expected anyone to be on the tracks at that time. it was about 11:18 last night when the amtrak train passed by struck those two employees and killed them. passengers on the t
