comingp the uni men's basketball team takes a major step up in competition as they travel to play in a tournament in orlando. and the northern iowa football team is hoping a win against south dakota state this weekend good evening, i'm rick coleman. the northern iowa panther football team closes out the regular season this weekend at home against tenth south dakota state. it is a game the panthers need to win to have a shot at the f-c-s playoffs. a victory would give the panthers sole possession of fourth place in the missouri valley... and a big part of uni's postseason resume is that the panthers have played the toughest schedule in f-c-s football--which features six nationally opponent and the big 12's iowt been by just one score--including three games in which the panthers were leading in the fourth quarter---but it doesn't mean anything--unless uni wins saturday. there's ways to justified stuff and there's not to you just have to flippin win and the play the game and play the play and take care of yopur business and let those people who make those choices make them. the panthers

from the uni dome, josh christensen tv9 sports. last night's xavier-pella game should have been for the state championship.. it was the game of the year in high school football. one against two and boy did it live up to the hype.. this game went back and forth all night.. maliki wilson capped off his high school career in style with 237 yards rushing on 30 carries.. xavier had a 30-28 lead and pella was driving pella got one last shot at and two big time catches by 6'5 ryan van wyke the second one a 26 yard touchdown catch on the final play of the game to give the dutch a 34-30 win and extend their winning streak to 40 games.. this was a crushing loss for xavier who played their hearts out and showed a lot of grace in defeat. i just told them i loved them so proud of them. not one day this year did you go to practice thinking this is because they're great kids and they got a lot to be proud of. whenever you get a loss at the end of the season when you are so close it's always tough but teammates played their hearts out i couldn't b
