it started with united airlines cracking down on its pilots. anuary, the airline sent a letter to its pilots in essence telling them to get their act together following a series of safety events and near-misses. yuntded complained to its pilots there were too many errors in the cockpit and there was poor communication. enough the "wall street journal" reports the faa has sent a letter to united telling them that pilots are flying too many hours and not staying current in their flight training. what makes this letter so unusual is that the faa doesn't have the resources nor the manpower to fully police the airline airline. so it relies on the airline self-policing and united did exactly that, telling the faa about its scheduling and training problems. the problem here is united apparently reported the same problems 12 times in 13 months. the faa calls that a systemic hazard that needs to be overhauled. united now says it has provided the faa with a full outline of corrective actions and considers the situation resolved. but the faa has not confir
