when the united nations deploys peace keepers, we do so to protect the world's most vulnerable peoplee we also heard ban ki-moon admitting that this was not the first time we have heard about such allegations, and indeed they have come from many countries. >> translator: that's right. this peace-keeping mission in the central african republic is very new. the first allegation actually came -- was the accusation of sexual misconduct by french troops in the central african republic last year, before the official peace-keeping mission was set up. ban ki-moon announced that he was going to be investigating that. but since the peace-keeping forces of the u.n. have been there, there have been now two other allegations, including this one most recently of misconduct by u.n. peace keepers there. so this has been a very troubled peace-keeping mission on several levels, and clearly ban ki-moon already has a high-level investigative panel set up looking into this. but we just heard him say that he is hoping to get that investigation -- the results of their internal investigation soon, but so far

peace keepers have emerged. three women say they were sexually assaulted. that's where peace keepers are stationed. our correspondent has more from the united nations. >> reporter: three new allegations of wrongdoing for a peacekeeping mission that has been plagued by accusations of misconduct. they involve three young women, one a min minor who say they wee raped in a town 350 kilometers outside of the capital. we have very few details about their situation, but we know that it was reported to the mission on the very same day that secretary general announced that he was firing the head of the peacekeeping mission because there had been so many problems and reports of misconduct. he cited an incident of a 12-year-old allegedly being raped as well as two civilians who had allegedly been shot by peace keepers. and that after months of accumulating complaints against peace keepers in the central african republic. we don't have a lot he did detaildetails, but here's what e spokesperson had to say. >> these new allegations have a report that three females were raped. the allegations were reported to the missions human right division on the 12th of augus

united nations would rapidly conduct it's own investigation. >> now, just last week secretary general ban ki-moon fired the head of the mission in the central african republic after other allegations of misconduct by peace keepers there came to light. allegations of rape of a 12-year-old girl and killing of two innocent civilians, allegedly, at the hands of u.n. peace keepers in the central african republic. that was an unprecedented move last week to fire the head of the mission there in central african republic, and this is part of what appears to be a seaming problem. since april there have been 61 allegations of misconduct by peace keepers in the central african republic, including 13 cases of sexual abuse. this has been taken very seriously, and it's really throwing the peacekeeping operations there into some degree into crisis, and certainly these latest allegations that were very much unexpected and just announced by the u.n. certainly are going to throw the situation there even into more uncertainty in this peacekeeping mission there in that country. >> and we'll continue to follow closely. thank you. >> still to come on al jazeera, the thai police identify the main suspect in bangkok's bombing, and say
