herb hunter, spokesman for the united pilots.b-p's handling of the massive oil spill in the gulf of mexico...a look at potential damage to the company's image. the massive oil spill in the gulf of mexico is a major setback for oil company bp. the longer it goes on, the bigger the hit to bp's image. nick kalm is an expert on corporate reputation, and he's here to talk about it. welcome to the show. good to have you again. and the cleanup efforts have certainly been very difficult. even federal officials say bp needs to put more resources into the situation. and that alone you would think, would be a hit to bp's image. absolutely, they talked very openly about having 2500 employees on the ground there, on their web site. but clearly more needs to be done. there are a huge company, so they need to put in more resources. it would certainly be good if they did that without having to be asked by the federal government to do it. but in this case, at least they're following what they're being asked to do. and we also want to point out, t

a good example of that is the tremendous amount of effort, the private pilots of the united states exerted, in helping the island of haiti. just last week we had harrison ford here to describe what he had done. he owns several airplanes and did a number of flights into haiti, transporting doctors, medicine, and so forth. he's an example of what i'm talking about. not everyone who took part is a movie star at harrison ford is, but he was representing a lot of people who expended a lot of their own money to aid the people in haiti through the use of airplanes, flying goods in and out, flying patients out to the united states for medical treatment when they were in serious trouble. and so it's just an example of one of the many things that pilots and aviation in general does to help the public at large. so i'm very proud to stand here and say we have to help aviation and private pilots in every way that we can. and one good way is to encourage them to learn to fly. individuals who normally would not think of flying but when they see they can accomplish so much good with aviation, we hope they

united express flight. it landed sunday in ontario, california without the front landing gear. thanks to good work by the pilots, everyone was okay. >> that is good news. >> any landing you can walk away from. >> is a good landing. >> good morning. another damp start to the day. it was a damp weekend with pockets of sunshine. we were dodging the rain drops yesterday. this morning we have rain drops a couple of areas of drizzle. little fog over to ocean city. so i know some of you will be heading to the beach as we head to the weekend. looking at the satellite and radar on the weather computer this morning. sort of see the spin to the south. we have an on-shore flow. when we get daytime heating that will percolate the atmosphere and bubble up more showers. right now on live doppler 9000 hd we are seeing showers, light ones, west of us and northwest of us. however, i have had reports from annapolis of some drizzle and just sprinkles out there. the atmosphere is trying to spit a few rain drops. we will work around there. see the line of showers here coming from fairfax county along 29 here. south of 66 here. when

there could be a pilot which requires congressional direction. there are members of united states congress have been conversations including senator ron wyden and a congressman who has proposed organic legislation for mms. i felt that that is a good idea and said that in hearings as well as in public statements that i have made. some of this will depend on the congressional actions from the legislative package which is being worked on. there will be other components of legislative packages sent to the hill that can be responsive to this issue. we await some of those actions to take place as we move forward with this. >> what can you move ahead with administratively? >> administratively? the mms was created back in the early 1980's with secretarial orders that were amended several times. since then there have been numerous references to mms and its functions and almost every iteration of the energy acts enacted by congress. what we're doing and we had been doing this even before this incident occurred, is to determine which secretarial order with respect to the reorganizatio

pilots. ibm is part of a number of them and so are many other large employers and we work with our health care plans, ibm for example is working with one, united health care in arizona and we just pay differently. we pay more -- we add that component of a fee-for-service or a capitation per month, so $12 per member per month or something equivalent to that to sort of prime the pump. we think it's been very important over these last three ar four years to do something we call pay for process, to begin to change, help the doctors have the money to change the system, and so we've been doing that in various pilots. we now have, i think, about 44% of our employees, we're the largest corporate employer in vermont, we have about 44% of our lives now enrolled in medical home in vermont, and the patients of love it. i mean, they just love it. it's just phenomenal. and the doctors, because i've been up and visited many of the practices, the doctors feel much more satisfied about the care. in rochester, we worked with the two largest employers there are the may haveo clinic and ibm and we worked with them, and actually, have built out or the mayo clini
