well my name is stacy pearsall, and i was a combat photographer in the united states air force. got to travel across the world and documenting the stories of the men and women who serve our great nation. you take us behind the scenes almost, you know, the in-between time, when it's not just the combat. can you walk us through some of your images. well i think a lot of people have this idea that the soldier is invincible and almost untouchable in many ways. but what i wanted to do is set about sharing pictures that showed the men and women in a more personal way. brings their personality out. exactly. so, you know, conflict, yes, there's a lot of -- really, a lot of tension, and there's a lot of trauma. but what i wanted to focus on was what happens between the

one who i am proud to call a veteran of the united states air force. my son christopher was the first one to leave home and i can't imagine as a mother of a child who is leaving home for the first time, going into basic training, and receiving the types of calls, you know, that these parents must have received, completely heartbreaking. what are the story -- one of the stories my son shared with me was of a suicide that happened -- that involved one of his classmates and how the parents found out about her suicide through a facebook post. because everyone was sharing a condolence note. so these things happen and while we cannot, may not be able to always control the actions of these young men and women, there is a basic understanding and expectation from parents like myself that when we send our boys and our young men and our young women, daughters and sons, to the military, that they will be taken care of. and when they file a complaint, that those complaints will be taken seriously and fully investigated and they deserve nothing less. sexual harassme
