i truly want to thank the united states capitol police. andow you have training everybody trains for a tragedy, but clearly, the training that your officers through gives them the skills that they needed that day to save the lives of so many others and so i truly appreciate all of our capitol police, all of my security. could i ask all of my security up?il to stand they don't like the limelight, all, they all protect our families. they protect all of us. bestowed upon people with great courage who risk their lives and direct benefit of others or united states capitol policehistorically this report is reserved for capitol police ,fficers, however on june 14 the heroic efforts performed by these offices transcended uniform colors and department names. i recognize these three officers from the alexandria police as well as are two special agents. we all remember that morning wednesday, june 14, 2017, greiner, were assigned to represent of -- representative scalise. he was practicing for the charity baseball game with 25 members of the republican team, which included numerous numbers of congress. an assailant emerged from the parking lot in the field, walking up to the fence on the third base side. 7.62d in possession a millimeter rifle and a nine millimeter handgun. the members onon the field and the staff who were practicing. in response to these gunshots, special agents radioed for assistance and engage the assailant with department issued handguns. in an effort to pin him down and prevent him from getting to the field and injuring more people. during the

capitol police, reported this individual, and they arrested him. >> reporter: fox 5 news tried to get the united states capitol police to talk to us on camera about this case. we were told no. they said they do not comment on investigations. about 4:30 this afternoon, they finally did send us the police report, it was a redacted report, meaning parts of it had been blacked out. including the suspect's name. we were able to see that there were two individuals who were on a tour that reported they had been groped. the suspect was we could see from the report that it was a 20-year-old male, but as far as what the outcome of that arrest and how long the person was held in custody, we're still awaiting information on this. this came today on a day when the house of representatives voted on a measure to increase sexual harassment training for members of congress and staffers up here on the hill. the person who has been leading that charge has been virginia congress woman barbara com stock. we caught up with her, she said in regards to this incident amongst the tourists, she's concerned about what happened he

learned about it though, because of the police blotter that has just been released by the united states capitol police. here's what they say happened. we're told that two individuals went to the capitol police >> two people in the capitol visitor center who were there presumably for them and groped them. those two individuals reported this individual and they arrested him. >> reporter: late this afternoon, following repeated requests from fox 5 news u.s. capitol police finally did release a redacted version of this that police report. parts of but we were able to see that the person who was arrested was a 20-year-old male. we were also told that there were two victims listed on this police report. but as far as what the victim's name was, that part was blocked out. now, this all happened today while the house of representatives itself was voting on a package to increase sexual harassment training here on capitol hill in the wake of the allegations spread throughout the hill over past couple of weeks. we spoke to virginia congress woman barbara com stock who spearhead that day effort. she said this arr

>> well, i got to see firsthand the heroism of our united states capitol police. david have been like family to me for a long time. they saved not only my life but the members of a will the of other people and to see the other police officers resolved. >> you said they were out shot. we've seen so many americans who wanted to be killed. it was in face of these weapons of war. has your experience caused you to have any personal reflection about the politics of this and what should be done about those weapons? >> i'm somebody who strongly believes in the second amendment. i got to see first hack when this happened, the shooter would have killed all of us. he wasn't able to do that because we had other people with guns. you saw that text? horrible tragedy. there were some brave people who came with their own guns to con trobt the shooter and as horrible as his actions hurt, he was able to attend a testimonial. the fact that there are other people who have the second amendment protections to themselves and others is critically important. >> finally, i watched your pie

united states jeff sessions at a capitol hill hearing. >> where people who are rightfully he protesting what they consider to be in justice in their community which is their relationship with police officers are now being targeted and labeled as extremist and going through periods of surveillance and harassment. >> now, for its part the congressional black caucus fired its own letter to the fbi christopher ray. they called it faultily and questioned finding and rational of the report. and they also questioned whether or not this was a rush to fbi practices from back in the 50s and 60s in which the bureau under then director j. edgar mover used tactics to discredit understand police experts tell us these assessments very often are indications of things that police departments need to know about to formulate policy. and they are not a strict directive to create policy. however, under questioning, the attorney general says while he has not read the report in full, he is aware of some of its findings. >> and i'd be ready to see conclusions of that report but i'm aware there's groups that have an extraordinary commitment to the racial identity and some have transformed themselves even
