welcome to the united states of america a nation of eighty year old bricklayers that's part of time here you could retire when you were in your sixty's. in another sign of just how bad our nation is treating the working class a new study by the employee benefit research institute shows that most americans they will have to work until their late seventy's before they can think about retiring according to the study if you make roughly thirty one thousand a year which is about the average for about forty percent of americans and more than twice the minimum wage by the way you'll have to work until you're seventy six years old just to have a chance of retiring and i say chance because even if you do work until seventy six is still only have a fifty fifty shot at having enough money to live off of in retirement fifty fifty chance if you don't get sick if your house isn't blown away in a tornado and if your pension isn't stolen by bankers on wall street pictured as the picture is even grimmer if you earn minimum wage about twelve thousand dollars a year then get ready to work until you're eigh

[laughter] and that is what we are doing a lot in this country. we're turning a blind eye to a bold enemy. that is telling us exactly what he wants to do. it's of to our elected leaders and it's up to our strategic level military officials to come up with the right type of strategic perspectives in order to combat against them. it's not a war in afghanistan. it's not a war in iraq. those are kombat series of operation. that is the second tier, the operational warfare. it's just this strategic year where we have missed out on the agendas. the next thing i want to talk to you about is very simple. you've got to understand the economic impacts on the 21st century battlefield. if you g

experienced more success and more prosperity than those of us fortunate enough to live in the united states of america in these modern times. as you know, our country faces great challenges. our beloved united states of america is in big trouble. we have to make sure that we see the challenge is clearly and that we call them out clearly and we provide the solutions clearly. unfortunately, we have a president whose policies have failed and he won't tell the people the truth about what is really -- what it will really take to fix these problems. [applause] if we are going to restore the american promise, we need to have a president that keeps his or her promises to america. that is not barack obama. he started out by making a number of big promises to the country. he stood in iowa and said we need to fix the broken health care system. back then, he opposed the individual mandate. he said he would do health care reform with republicans. he would focus on cost containment. do you remember those statements? did he keep his word to america? barack obama ran and got elected president within the first months

where they do not have to pay american taxes, that it would be willing to invest in the united states of america said by investing in the united states at a high corporate rate, they actually lose money. the full committee, republicans and democrats, a reformation of the system. everyone asked the question -- if we reduced the rates and closed the loopholes, would you accept that these loopholes be closed and not look at it as a tax increase for people who do not pay their fair share cholesteric they said that they would. the president has to put his foot to the fire. we save money. we have a more equitable distribution of the burden of government, and there is no question that the tax structure now encourages our multinational companies to invest overseas and create jobs overseas rather than having the jobs right here in the united states of america. host: our next call is going to come from new york city. i would like you to talk about your own ethics situation in congress which is centered around your own payment of taxes. what is the message that you want to send to them about that experienc

last year, the relationship between china and the united states of america has achieved new progress. people to people contacts and exchanges between our two countries grow rapidly. last year, 3 million visited each other. 1 million from china, 2 million from the united states of america. we see our mutual friendship enhanced, our cooperation consolidated and expanded. especially, our bilateral trade reached a new record of $385.3 billion. 29.3% more than the previous year. that is 150 times more than 32 years ago, when china and america established diplomatic relations. and the state of california maintains its leading position in exports to china. in the fourth quarter of last year, california exported x 0.8 billion u.s. dollars to china, which is 28% more than the same period of last year. 35% is from the bay area. the year 2010 is also a very remarkable in the relationship between china and san francisco. last year, shanghai and san francisco celebrated the city's anniversary of the sister city relationship. three mayors of this city led a large delegation to shanghai and inaugura

know the end result of their actions in washington and how they ripple out all across the united states of america. these programs create jobs and spur private investment. you take a dollar of cdbg and you can leverage that two, three, four times and really enliven the area that is being affected. having fewer of those dollars at some level really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. >> one of the reasons we're so exrective of cdbg is it's money directly to cities. one of the biggest problems with the stimulus pacge was the money went to the states and it never made it to the cities. and we have so many transportation issues, so many infrastructure sthoose could have benefited from that stimulus money if the money had goneirectly to cities. so that's why cdbg fund something so important to us. mayors at our local level know best how to spend those dollars and put people back to work. >> weeved made that case consistently. >> whyo you think that cdbg has never been terribly politically popular across the board? >> well, it's been politically popular for mayors. popular for mayors. >> right, but -- >>

people say he didn't work for obama, he worked for the united states of america. >> leading to that thele idea of foreign policy, you saw what happened on the stage in new hampshire. the republicans who the world sort of knows as traditional defense, national security hogs, practically all of the candidates, talking about pulling back from all of their overseas commitments. george, this is a big change for the party. whether you're' war lover or not. >> the united states is engaged in hostilities in iraq, afghanistan, tribal region of afghanistan, libya. that's five wars. how many do these people want? with regard to libya, did libya attack us? no. were we obliged to get involved in a civil war? were americans endangered? no. find me a reason for this. >> to say that people are isolationists, akin to those who didn't want to resist hitler and the empire in japan, because they don't want to prolong the folly of the involvement in libya is pre posterous. when ronald reagan made a mistake as he did in lebanon, he quickly liquidated it. >> do you think this real admonishing from john mccain

i think this was a very important initiative to point out yet again that the united states of americathe european union, wish to promote a further development of the peace process. we're saying this to both countries -- we want a two-state solution. we want a jewish state of israel and alongside a independent palestinian state. unilateral measures are not helping at all to bring about this cause, and we agree that we wish to cooperate very closely on this, because as we both say, time is of the essence. and looking at the changes in the arab area and the arab region, it would be a very good signal indeed if it came out that talks between the parties are again possible. the commitment we take in afghanistan shows that we're very close. we're very grateful for the close cooperation in the north of afghanistan. that has turned out excellently. we share the opinion that in afghanistan we wish to approach an -- the matters in the sense of an integrated security approach, a network security approach. it was said we want to build up not only the military side of it, but the civil side of it.

we are allowing them to come into the united states of america. anyone that wants to deny that it was a part of the 21st century battlefield, you have got your head in the sand. unfortunately, when you do that you expose a certain part of your anatomy. that is what we are doing a lot in this country. we are turning a blind eye to a very bold enemy that is telling us exactly what he wants to do. but it is up to us and elected leaders, our strategic level military officials, to come up with the right kind of strategic military perspectives to combat against them. it is not a war in afghanistan. it is not a war in iraq. those are combat theater -- combat theaters of operation. that is the second tier of warfare. up here is a strategically where we have missed out on goals and objectives. the next thing that i want to talk to you about is very simple. we have to understand the economic impacts on these 21st century battlefields. look at what happened during the collapse of the soviet union. they did not collapse under military. they collapse economical
