post office has been hemorrhaging, nearly $5 billion in operating losses in the last fiscal year alone. so you would think maybe congress would want to do something about this, after all, the united states postal service. well, house lawmakers have passed more than 30 bills about the post office. but those bills were to rename post offices during the 112th congress but not one single solitary bill aimed at any sort of reform has made it even to the floor for consideration. the fox business network's adam shapiro is live outside the main post office here in new york city. adam, what is this payment that the post office apparently is not going to be able to make? >> well, this is a a .5 billion-dollar prepayment for retiree health benefits for people who haven't yet retired. back in 2006, congress changed the law requiring the post office going forward to make these pre-payments. they are going to default tonight at midnight on the a.a billion as well as the a $.6 billion payment in september, shepard. >> shepard: if i default on my payment, i get my electricity cut off or whatever. what happens to the post office? >> well, in this case, nothing because these are moneys that won't be draw
