look at the dow components all but one united technologies were in the green. good day for a lot of investors. >> tom: more optomism in the market with not a lot of news ahead of the greek election. let's take let's take a look at what else is happening with stocks in tonight's "market focus." a day of optimism helped stock prices recover after monday's steep drop. it took about and hour and a half before the s&p 500 found its footing today on the heels of chicago federal reserve bank president charles evans saying again he supports more help for the economy. that pushed the index up for the rest of the session, closing at its highs of the day. volume was modest-- 721 million on the big board, 1.6 billion cross on the nasdaq. the materials sector led the way higher, up 1.8%. financials and industrials were close behind, up 1.7% and 1.6%, respectively. now, airplane maker boeing saw some lift after an investment firm said boeing is making its dreamliner planes faster than anticipated. shares jumped 3.5%, rising to a one-month high. the dreamliner was delayed com

conglomerate, united technology was a stand-out among industrial stocks. today's 2.4% gain was the biggest percentage winner among dow stocks. the buying came on almost twice usual volume, with the stock bouncing off a six month low yesterday. the biggest industrial loser was filtration company pall. shares sank more than 4%. volume more than quadrupled as shares sit at their lowest price since november. it reported a drop in core quarterly earnings, flat revenue and higher expenses. utility excelon thinks natural gas and electricity prices are bottoming. that was enough optimism to help shares plug in to some buying. the stock jumped 4% as volume doubled. natural gas prices fell, so too had excelon's share price this year. the company expects natural gas prices to rise and older power plants to be retired, helping revenues. truck-maker navistar international hit the brakes on its financial forecast today. the company has been under pressure thanks to warranty expenses for a new engine. that new engine is supposed to meet e.p.a. smog guidelines but at a lo

>> we want to call up a chart of united technologies, cfo there saying that prat whitney engine engines, they're conserving cash and once that statement uttered not long ago, we saw an impact. we should point out with when you're looking at it jet engine sales and services they have a fourth of the market. rolls royce with a fourth and about half the market, the leader is general electric, the aviation group. we checked with ge engines. thank you very much. aviation engines and they say that they have noticed some softness, as well. they can't quantify it but clearly noticing airlines are conserving cash and that's being reflected in them orderinging fewer jet engines. >> i wonder if -- you heard brian shactman talk about utx's ceo say here's the direct sales exposure to greece and spain. you speak with european executives, as well rye right. >> you heard the previous conversation. do you think that, yeah, you know, maybe -- i'm not picking on a name, delta or american or united will buy fewer new jets worried fewer people going to madrid? >> no. because it's so far out at this point. i

honeywell, 3m, united technologies, they've got economic sensitivity. maybe people aren't being fearful enough with those. do you think walmart will do worse if the economy slows? frankly, i think it'll do better. do you think they'll cut the dividend? i think they'll raise it. does this get less attractive as treasury yields get crush? i say more attractive. and that's why in the midst of all this chaos, america's retailer hit a new high today. that's an astounding figure. but i don't care. i only care about the ones that will do just fine even if things get worse, much worse in this country like the bond market's saying. here's the bottom line, don't be blind and paralyzed with fear like the bond market freak-outers. stop and think about which stocks are getting more valuable because treasury yields are going lower and picket them when these professionals, so-called professionals, panic. that's what worked today. that's worked this whole horror month, good-bye, may, and it'll keep working for the rest of 2012. let's go to bruce in arizona. bruce? >> c
