this is so unprofessional and they want -- teachers want to be treated as professionals. it's not an odd idea. then comes an idea that has been popularized by some of the so-called reformers that one of the ways to improve performance is to abolish teacher tenure. now the reason i oppose this is because teacher tenure in k-12 does not mean the same thing a dozen higher education. in higher education when you have tenure you do have a job for life and lets you do something outrageous greedy 33 become a mass murder you probably would lose your job but if you are a k-12 teacher what it means is you have to process. you have to understand the teaching profession in the first five years after people enter at about 40% of them leave because teaching is such a difficult job the new teachers feel they are not getting the support they need and they don't have the leadership they want. they don't have the family support they want. 40% of people who wanted to be teachers are gone. so those who survive and do get tenure have a right to adhering adhering -- a hearing if someone wants
