i'm curious, one of the unsung characters is the data, their day-to-day lives are entwine with interpretation of data and you have this wonderful in your preface and i was wonder if you could speak about the data itself, what kinds of data these women were working with and how it contributed to the overall mission of jpl and how it had changed over the course of the half century or so that you cover in this book? >> well, there's certainly a lot of data to cover. you know, it starts out in a very simple way where we are learning about early missiles. a lot of the calculation that is were done on missile developed in the 50's, i found very interesting because if that missile ended up being not that important in military important but ends up being important later on in 1958 when we see explore one launched. so it was interesting to see how the women's calculations on early missiles and early fuels end up being very important when we get to the space race. and then, of course, the data changes. we go from calculating trajectories of missiles and propellant and then looking at spacecraft and the

comments that should be more circumspect iin the future, that doesn't in the matter some songs cannot be unsungd the comments she made have raised permit questions about her ability to fairly adjudicate many potential cases. host: while you said you don't question her judicial, our own ability to adjudicate cases in these cases come if there is another bush v. gore, cases involving donald trump, is thato a problem treachery is a couple of quibbles i would have with the editor one is the word path to, to have come to recuse herself. recusals are left entirely to the justices..l' more often than not they dismiss what our strong demand for recusal. we have that are both conservative and liberal justices where many of us believed you should recuse yourself because of financial interest or other types of connection. they often dismiss those. so she doesn't have to recuse himself if that's what we need enforceable code of ethics. more importantly when it comeses to recuse yourself in a bush v. gore, i would be surprised if she think that she could sit on such a case here but beyond that i don't think

[applause] >> good morning and thank you. it is beyond an honor to be here this morning as a native washingtonian and a proud product of the d.c. public school system. my childhood was punctuated with field trips, many of which happened right here in this building, at the folger theater right next door. it was here that i first saw african-american actress franschel stewart dorr. a graduate of the yale school of drama. i saw her play tat ark nia when i was in middle school, a role that i had the honor of playing here just this season. today, in the presence of my students from the duke elington school of the arts, in the presence of our d.c. schools chancellor, it cannot be understated, it cannot be underestimated, the power of black and brown children seeing themselves exemplified and celebrates by theatrical practitioners. making manifest the message: shakespeare is for everyone. in a time where it's ease i for the phrases -- easy for the phrases diversity and in
