they understand that the system in place today is too often unfair, unaccountable, and unsustainable. clearly, i know there are other voices in this debate besides my own and my constituents and i could not be more gratified that last week at the president finally his voice to this important debate. although i heard few specifics, i welcome him to the debate. i am encouraged by this and i recognize that he is indispensable to a solution. other important voices in this debate besides your own are those of senator corker of tennessee and senator warner of virginia. i commend them for their leadership as someone who has worked for years and years on the complicated and contentious issue of housing reform, i salute anyone who will roll up their sleeves and produce not just rhetoric but an actual plan. even today, more and more voices are being heard in this debate and this is encouraging. this is good. i stand ready to listen to all and negotiate in good faith with all. i do this with an open mind but i do not do it with an empty mind. thus, i remain skeptical and fearful of an approach t
