a good investigator needs to leave no stone unturned. that being said, this is par for course for any investigation. there will be misinformation, there will be third party information that is a distraction. the investigator would be remiss if they simply ignored it and it ended up being a positive lead, so they are doing the best they can with information they are provided. it's just going to take some time. at this point, they are still in search mode. like they said, it takes a long time just to search 70 square miles of this vast ocean and area. >> you talked about implementing in crashes like this some sort of grid system. can you explain what that means? >> absolutely. i have done this before in search and salvage operations on the ocean. its process of elimination. you cordoned off via gps grids and traversers those either by boat or aircraft. you visually stand for any debris or items that may be on sonarrface and listen via for that beacon that everybody is hoping to get a hold of. it's just a large area, and it will take time.
