as we continue in city hall to approach our budget season when we suffer through manual -- through annual budget deficits, the onus is on us as a city government to be as efficient as possible and given the massive dollar amounts at stake, solving our real estate management issues is a really big deal and a big step in that direction. i look forward to hearing from the city departments involved and the rest i submit. supervisor kim: i'm really exciting about the hearing supervisor farrell is calling for today. my time at the school district, it was frustrating to see surplus property line around it could generate revenue or generate bell you for our district weather was teacher housing or other usage for our youth in this san francisco. but the district often is not a real estate division and it's frustrating to the city is mired with the same challenges. i have three items i would like to submit today. the first and a good news, i am submitting a new safe san francisco civil-rights ordnance today. i know we just engaged in a lengthy process where we have heard our original ordinance and have gone through committee and two vote

i think it is important for us as a city to look at our for- profit contracts, whether it is our real estate leases or other for-profit contracts to see what it is that we do do in terms of the escalators. that has been mentioned before. and just to have a better evaluation of what kind of increases we generally give nonprofit and for-profit, and i think we need to look at this with an equity lens. but i certainly appreciate what everyone says. i spent years in the non-profit sector. i know what it is like to work between $30,000 to $40,000, and even when we did get as 1% or 2% increases, with increasing cost of living adjustments, and i want to thank everyone for taking the time to speak so eloquently about the work that you do and also to the folks that we serve who came out to talks eloquently about how the services are provided , so the thank you. chair chu: thank you, supervisor kim, and i know a number of the members of the audience said they view, but others have been sitting and patiently taking notes, so i want to thank them for sitting through, what is this now, i guess it i

business they cannot do something readily achievable when the 88 tells them that they can, and us as a city telling them that and and making them vulnerable to these predatory lawsuits is very frustrating for the business. from where i sit, i see the potential for inspectors to perhaps be in the private realm of if there are conflicting issues, that this is one of the authorities that can be developed. senator feinstein has directed the state to do something to help reduce these predatory lawsuits. if we need to strengthen it around inspections with the department of building inspections and their ability to have some authority, those are things that i know from our office and the business sector that we would be interested in exploring working with the california commission on disability and with their state legislatures in trying to strengthen some sort of ability for businesses to have assurance that the direction they're taking is the right direction under the readily achievable component. i don't know if like -- >> we have a whole process at this department that involves the access app

tech sf is the money that was granted to us as a city, and aimed at those entities that helped train kids like you and others to the technology skills so that you can get a job at ibm or twitter or salesforce or wells fargo or bank of america. all of these technology jobs need the skill sets. it is a good opportunity. we are working with entities. that has been putting those skills together. you can get enrolled in these nonprofits and cable brokerage you. you can get job training. i saw some of the kids. they are smiling because they know they have a future with all the these companies. they can move around and choose what it is they want to do. whether it is in the music industry, financial industry, social services industry. all of that will be tech driven. i been spending time making sure the city is safe, making sure we do with our budget. it is an exciting for me because it is the first time i ever did this. i have not been a politician before this. some of this stuff is coming at me in a new way. i have been working for government for 23 years. i try to use that experience in m
