boston. no major damage or serious injuries are reported. but thankfully just a glancing blow from earl. again now just a tropical storm. meteorologist sandhya patel is with us as always, and she has been watching the storm since the beginning. >> that's right, dan. and the latest from the national hurricane center is indicating that tropical storm earl is racing along the coastline. it is now just a tropical storm. it has weakened considerably. sustained winds at 70 miles an hour. tracking to the northeast at 30 miles an hour. almost double the speed it was earlier. and so we are talking about a quick-moving system. as we look at doppler 7hd, we do have rain bands associated with tropical storm earl. they have seen the rain, the wind and the high waves. nantucket is reporting light rain with gusts to 30 miles an hour. portland, some moderate rain beginning to show up with winds out of the north to six. as the storm moves up the coastline, it will continue to weaken over the weekend and heading toward nova scotia. they can expect heavy rain and wind and of course the high surf. here in the bay area, it is a different story. quite a scene. it was september fr
