us about this? >> reporter: gray, like you said one person is in custody, police actually just wrapped up their investigationere at the scene, i'll step out of the way you can see the damage now that the vehicles have gone. a number of broken windows from firefighters fighting the blaze earlier. firefighters stopped at the nearby businesses along route 1 looking for surveillance video that may help them piece this altogether. >>> as soon as the guy opened the door, you seen the orange flames. >>> jay recalls a harrowing scene. >>> i heard a man saying help me i'm trapped on the bed, i don't know if away tied up or what. me and the cop heard it, we couldn't get into the door because it was too much smoke. >> reporter: one person died in the fire and one is in custody. it started around 2:30 a.m. officials say thick smoke was billowing from two rooms on the first floor. firefighters had to rescue several people from the second floor and had the blaze under control in 30 minutes. several were taken to the hospital for smoke. red cross responded to help guests giving out blankets in the chilly morning hours. wit
