in this city. whether it is commissioners or people in the community who work with us, our supervisors and elected als, i take great pride in working with all of them to make sure this city is a warm, welcoming, servers, and equitable city, and this year's theme, a global economy, is all about getting the whole world to pay attention to how the quality would benefit them, so a wonderful team. i want to thank the gay pride committee and all the people. it is wonderful to see you get out of the economic doldrums and into the loves and success in the city. we have suffered many years of setbacks. we have suffered where programs we care about, services have been attractants, and this year and for the next two years i worked hard with supervisors to make sure we had conversation and restored all the funding to the cuts to hiv and aids, and we will continue making that commitment, and that should not be an issue here in san francisco. it should never be an issue. we should always talk about how we serve the residents of this city equitably, and that is why we have to make sure we have a strong economic b

thank you guys for choosing to come out here and join us in our home city.that you are here. we are proud to be part of this city and a partner with you and we look for to achieving those goals you laid out. we talked about making energy personal for our customers. you have to make it personal for it to have an impact on your life, and there's probably no better example of that then the relationship you have an old power and the work you help do for our customers. i heard this morning the commission from thecpuc -- the cpuc was making a speech, and she was happy to get her report and had one smiley face and was committed to getting to two. that is one great example of making it personal. there is the work we do with social. we have the opportunity to engage people. we have a passion. we give them the information so they can help accomplish their goals. there is another aspect of this, which is really important, which i wanted to thank you all for. i have talked to a lot of our other customers, some of whom are less fortunate in terms of their income and what

us. if they make money and create conditions for them to invest in our city, we expect them to work in partnership with us. that is why you see a lot of department's finding innovative ways to work with private companies to make money. whether they protect companies like sales force or twitter, they will make a lot of private investment moneys. we're trying to turn their attention to our needs in government, as well as the private sector, and investing in neighborhoods. if you can grow in the bayview, third street, they can grow with us. it is always about not just them growing, all of us growing together and to share. that is why we are having this great discussion about shared economy, because we need for sharing. that is the secret, i think, in making better government. where the money is gained, we share it and allow other people to build on the foundation. i just want to share that with you. i will say that we're not going to give up. we're not giving up. that is not going to go away. we just need, at this time, because of that elimination about redevelopment, you know how i feel about that a

in our city, in our schools. they are an investment in our streets, in our trees. many of the services we provide for seniors -- none of us want to see people go hungry or not get the job training they need, our kids not getting the proper education they get. the paper that through the taxes you invest in our city. that benefits all of us. the mayor is interested in generating $13 million for an affordable housing trust fund. that is critical. in district 6, we are still not able to meet regional development goals. in our tax sector, we need to see continuing commitment from our private sector to keeping our city the world-class city we all talk about. supervisor of the los reminded me that this is an issue we had been talking about since 2004. for many years, when we were part of the people's organization, i think a key part of what we have been talking about is how you raise revenue for a city to provide more equity, lowering the "burden "on our companies. i think it is important that we increase private-sector investment. the rest, i submit. supervisor farrell: colleagues, today i am introducing legislation along with

using energy efficiently. we need to have enough money to run the system and we need to use our energy efficiently. i bring up energy because, in the city, all of the energy we use in san francisco, including our energy to heat our houses and cut our food and drive our cars is vastly more than what we used to run our municipal transportation system. we only use 2% of the energy we use on muni. so you know we are not efficient. we can improve that. and we need to because the cost of energy is only going to go up. we need to figure out how we are going to do this. the best way is to make muni efficient, make it appealing, affordable, and help everybody get onto our municipal transportation system. we need to improve pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, we need to improve bicycle parking and implement bike sharing. and in the richmond district -- and i think this could also be for district 5 -- we need to make it easier to do city car share, and even to rent cars. more specifically, about two years ago, we did begin to cut service, muni service, because of a budget shortfall. at this point it is time to assess those cuts to service in the ri

our system. we do need to update that system. it will allow us to do good work in terms of collecting revenues for the city. the other major initiative we are working on right now, we have released our banking services request for proposal. it will allow us to update and improve the types of services we provide, including banking services, cardholders, processor services, gateway services like on-line payments, and so on, including even armored car services. i am very excited to remind you that it is through the good work we have done with supervisor avalos and others on the board that we were able to include social irresponsible banking collection, which are mandatory for all the respondents. thank you very much, supervisor. i also wanted to note that we are attentive to language access -- access issues in our office. we have a line serving the public. we have budgeted $15,000 specifically to provide language access. we also have a history of working with summer youth. we have between three and four of placements each year. we have requested an additional three summer interns in our office. i would be happy

a city that invites innovation, supports technology, and invite you to help us, because your creative juices are also what we need in our city. i have been around government for 22 years and i have seen people sit at their job all day long and eight hours later, you do not know what they did. they lose their creative juices when they first come to serve the public. i am creating a relationship with you to the rest of the city to help go both ways. if we can help you be a successful company and keep the entrepreneurial spirit and our city alive, if we can do the kinds of things you want along this corridor or market street, third street, to keep small businesses alive and keep parts in our neighborhoods, keep all of the cultural and richness of our city alive, you will feel a lot better working and living in our city. that goes with a good public transit system, good schools, welcoming the arts community, it goes to having great sports teams. i think we are right around the corner, in the near future. the giants may not be the only sports team that we have in our city. there may be other sports that are welcome. of cours
