so how are the dots connected, especially with the use of the postal inspection service you talked about? where do they start, how do they connect those dots, in a general sense, obviously, not knowing all the details of how they worked in this particular case? frmen >> sure. the postal service can tell a great deal from the package just from looking at the front of it. they can tell you probably where it might have originated. they will help you trace back to where it definitely was placed in the mail stream. they can look at different, i won't get into specifics but they can look at different things on the envelope. by the time you are all done, they can give you not only where it was mailed, but just about to the hour where it was placed in the mail stream. what you do then is go back and find witnesses, find people who handled the package. it's gotten better. during unabomb we didn't have cameras everywhere. we didn't even have a camera system invented that you could put outside where it would be protected from the weather. now there are cameras everywhere, so when you are an investi
