shaun hogan pleading guilty to second degree murder charges for the death of... crystal gaffney.. the crime happened back in july of 2014 in linn county. kwwl's lauren moss joins us now live in our newsroom with the latest developments..in a very interesting case, lauren. very..hogan was originally charged with first degree murder, but i spoke with an assisant county attorney today who told me he accepted a plea deal for second- degree murdern hogan admitted to assaulting and stabbing gaffney. her body was found in rural linn county, back in 2014 now before hogan was arrested he sparked an amber alert - accused of taking gaffney's three children, one of whom was his own. hogan was arrested a few days later at university avenue studios in waterloo. he was then charged with first degree murder in her death... you may remember, all of this happened in a span of just days in july of 2014. now, because he took the plea deal, hogan now faces up to 50 years in prison- and he must serve 35 years before he could be up we've got you covered, lauren moss kwwl news. thanks lauren- hogan's sentencing is set for may 20th in linn county. lisbon police tell us they are following
