canally joins us to talk more about the labor market, the fed and other factors that helped shape the committee this past year. john is with lpl financial. welcome. good to have you with us. talk a little bit about unemployment. it's now at 5%. how much lower do you think it can go? >> it can probably go a percent lower. we could probably get to 4%. the recent low at least in my memory was in the late 1990s, it got down below 4%. because the participation rate is falling, there's probably a floor underneath of that and that's probably not the real unemployment rate. either you have to take into account the fact that people have stopped looking for work and all of that. >> if more people are working and unemployment rate goes down, that would suggest that maybe income growth cog kick up a little bit. do you expect that in 2016? >> at this point in the business cycle, you would expect that. wages have started to move higher. we started 2015 with wages 1 1/2 to 2 range. as we end 2015, in the 2 to 212 range. i would expect next year 3 1/2 to 3% range. incomes are running higher than they have been but still below where they were prior to the great recession. still work to d
