for us to-ku $300 million from your budget, it's distressing. the last thing we want is the stories of lau some overzealous tax agent goes and busts someone door down to try to collect taxes. the truth is, for the most part, you have employees who do just yeoman's work to try to help their fellow americans prepare their taxes. i hope you will sound the alarms, if they are alarms, ton ability for us to pay our taxes the right way voluntarily. my understanding is, and correct me if i'm wrong, that we now estimate that some $385 billion annually is not paid in taxes that are either avoided or intentionally not paid in this country. $35 billion. is that the estimate? >> that's the estimate for tax year 2006. >> so that's more money -- that's more money that we would fund you for how many years? >> a lot. >> it's just incredible. we have americans who are voluntarily paying their taxes. you've got a whole bunch of other americans who unfortunately aren't doing what they should or at the level they should. so the responsible taxpayers in this country a

first-class ticket, but if you're not the now market the opportunity to go to the head of the ku, and amusement parks it used to be that one of the veins of going to amusement parks was having to wait in long lines for popular rides. now many amusement parks sell a special ticket that enables you to jump the queue so you don't have to wait. now, these are not -- this doesn't pose a grave danger, these examples, but the strong illustrations of this tendency take a more significant one. when i was in china recently learned that in chinese hospitals there are enormous queues, long waiting lines. people come from the country sometimes countrysides waiting for days to see a doctor, and it's given rise to an industry. entrepreneurs hire people, homeless people are others waiting in line to get the ticket which is very cheap. and then they sell those tickets. it's like ticket scalping outside of a world series game or concert, sell it to the highest bidder. now this is for access to see a doctor and hospital. and so, the question arises when should the principle first-come, first-served, first-served governor, and

ku klux klan candidate, she became governor. and we had an issue about how to educate children who are primary spanish speakers. same issue we have today. today we use terms bilingual or immersion. back then, they just said, do we teach them in english or in spanish? ma ferguson was asked that when she was governor in 1923 or '24. she said, how do we teach children who are primarily spanish speakers? and she responded what is the most infamous quote in texas political history when she said if english was good enough for jesus christ, it's good enough for the skilled children of texas. now, i don't know if that's true. i don't know if that's lore or legend. but it brings history right into today, and it makes people think about, you know, maybe there are some lessons to be had from what's occurred before. similarly when today you'll get to go to the archives. i think it's one of the options and we have, you know, i think the eye-watering documents over there. a couple of them are illustrative of that issue as well. i think it's out for restoration. so you may not be able to see it. but we have a leather-bound volume that's about that wide, about that
