the homeowner called usaa, vanderbilt owner just filed bankruptcy they discovered the insurance checks had been cashed at fremont bank and claim it was gun a forged signature, homeowners now have no way to recover insurance money because he's protected by the bankruptcy. >> he's protected civilly f he has forged a signature for some of these, that is forgery. and he's stolen money. i don't know whether the district attorney will do something about it. but they will look into this. >> paul chang says vanderbilt cashed $72,000 worth of checks at fremont bank without required endorsement of wells fargo. another homeowner says vanderbilt did the same thing for her check, $259,000. there are $60,000 worth of work left on chang's roof. they and their four girls are living with friends. at the bankruptcy hearing chang asked how he can cash check was out signatures. >> he claimed power of attorney in the contract. but according to the contract they do have a limited power of attorney and they canf-ñ casñ checks for work and they didn't have power of attorney over wells fargo. >> he didn't have
