usgs classifying it as a 3.6.he calaveras fault, the last large earthquake near the alum rock area where the latest earthquake might have happened was october 30th and that was a magnitude 5.6. now downgraded to a 3.6 earthquake in san jose. a 6.2 on april 24th. there were zero deaths but we had several injured people and there was minor building damage to at least 550 buildings. that was being reported as a 4.1. now usgs saying a 3.6 earthquake near the alum rock area. i want to give you immediate dangers surrounding earthquakes. perhaps you're visiting us from out of state. i can give folks an idea. if you're not used to earthquakes it can be frightening regardless of how small they are. things that you may want to look out for are things like gas lines. gas line, gas leaks, the potential for fire danger because of the dry brush out there. fires may start with little warning and we get the sinking of buildings. these are for much larger earthquakes. not just here in california but we've seen them in japan and ar

shaking intensity was felt between weak and light with the purple and the blue colors there and usgs is reporting this as a depth of six kilometers. it was a shallow quake. to give you an idea as far as quakes go, a shallow quake is typically anywhere from zero miles to 44 and moderate is down to about 188. a seismologist said most tend to happen at the 10 kilometer. this one reported at 6 kilometers. that gives you an idea how this quake was felt and throughout portions of the south bay for sure. mike, how are the roads? >>> we have the breaking news but it's not anything related to the quake, first of all, and no delays or problems reported by any of our rail agencies. i' ramp continues to be closed from southbound 880 through hayward and union city. quicker recovery than i thought. the earlier crash cleared from the lanes there. a much better drive and the bay bridge toll plaza showed a backup just before 6:00 got pretty significant and then eased up. there may have been a small incident that wasn't reported. we now have your standard build here at 6:12. >>> we'll check back with

we have late word of a minor earthquake, the usgs reports a magnitude 3.6 earthquake.n benito county. it hit just after 9 30 near the pinnacles national park about 26 miles south of hollister, and on social media. people in carmel say they, too, felt the jolt so far, though no reports of any damage, alrighty. temperatures out there are cooling down quickly. we've got fog moving in at the coast. not quite as much as we had last night. it will be a little warmer tomorrow because of that, but we do have fargo and get bridge. you can't really see it here. all we can do is i can take it to this model, and we'll push it through. so this is essentially 10 o'clock tonight about now, and that's what the fog footprint looks like it in. the forecast will push the fog kind of see where it is. it's hanging around to oakland in the livermore valley a little bit just at the edge of fremont little bit into san rafel, and then by lunchtime tomorrow, it kind of back goes right back to the coast, but there's a good plug of it over the top of us tomorrow, mainly in the central south bay.
