the core of utah's mission is to serve the people of utah and the world through the discovery creationplication of knowledge. the veterans affairs mission is derived from president lincoln's charge in his second inaugural address. as a bloody civil war was drawing to a close lincoln directed us to serve and care for those of us who should have borne the battle, and for their families. it is the best and most inspiring mission i know of. both utah's mission and the a's mission --va's mission call on us to make a difference in the world. but how do we make a difference in the world? it sounds like an imminent -- an intimidating proposition, and i can tell you exactly how -- there is no real luck, roadmap smartphone application, or surefire way, but there is a northstar to guide you, and that north star is a sense of purpose. a commitment to make a difference in your life and the lives of others. that is the sole message i would like to leave you with. many people -- many of you have probably heard of laura knisley's story of a starfish. let me repeat it if you haven't. there was a young
