this would transfer several parcels of federal land to the state of utah for inclusion in the utah state park system. the partials included are currently managed by the bureau of land management or the u.s. forest service and are either adjacent to or comprise holdings within the utah state park system. it would convey federal land to antelope island state park to modify an existing campground and others to wasatch mountain to expand and enhance existing trail networks. it's a win-win for utahans and the the american taxpayer. utah state parks are known for their beauty and for being well managed and popular. bolstering state parks will help more tourism, preventing overcrowding of utah's more famous national parks. this legislation will improve recreation infrastructure and public access for all local utahns and visitors alike, helping grow utah's outcar recreation economy. federal groups will benefit also. b.l.m. testified it will improving manibilitibility and get rid of parcels that are difficult to manage. i commend representative malloy for her leadership on this issue. over 60% of

officials in utah are calling it a christmas miracle. two brothers are alive today after narrowly escaping an avalanche on christmas eve. reporter chris arnold has that story. >> those guys had a had a very, very lucky christmas eve. >> toby wheat is a forecaster with the utah avalanche center. he's describing an incident that took place late tuesday morning. >> it was a party of two brothers, and they went out for a ride into the steep hollow area. one of them was riding across the slope or side, hilling across a fairly large bowl when he triggered the avalanche. >> wheat says that avalanche came down and caught. one of the brothers was carried about 150 yards by the snow before he was buried. down below, he says, luckily, both men had all of the equipment necessary for backcountry travel. >> the brother, who was not buried, used his transceiver to find the brother who was buried, and it got him pretty close. and when he got close enough, he could see a couple fingers sticking out of the snow of his brother and was able to dig him out.
