a 'nique valencia went on an aerial tour. >> reporter: a small community here in south carolina stillith major flooding. we're high above the skies of conway, south carolina and we wanted to give you a bird's eye perspective of what residents are still dealing with here and just take a look for yourself. this subdivision here is near the river, but now most of it is under water. earlier we were in this community and saw residents as they were desperately trying to sandbag their homes, residents that didn't think they were going to get any water. now that water is starting to creep its their homes at its height. we're told by local emergency management the whack ama river is causing a rise of 3 inches per hour. by the end of the day it had gone up 2 feet. here we are, we're told that the river has stabilized a bit, and it's gone up a foot. they're not expecting the river to crest until sometime early tuesday. the national guard is on hand as well as local resources to assist residents. desperately clinging to hope, we hope they will not lose their homes. the good news is no injuries ha

i also want to check in with nick valencia, a bit north of us in myrtle beach.round conway, south carolina. what have you found there, nick? >> reporter: well, the big challenge here, erica, is flooding. we have been here all morning watching water flood the roadway. check out what's going on behind me. some good news is that water seems to have started to recede a bit as rain has lightened up. check out this home here. we have been showing you this all morning long. it is pretty much underwater, not entirely. first couple of steps. water seems to be inching up closer and closer towards the first story and porch there. it is not a matter of if or when flooding will hit conway. this is an area accustomed to flooding. saw it in 1999 during hurricane floyd and hurricane matthew a couple years ago. in the next couple days what officials are extremely worried about is river increasing. waccamaw river is a couple miles away. as the river continues to swell, that water has to come somewhere. north carolina, water will come south. local police are concerned about that.
