cbs 2's valerie castro spoke exclusively with the family. >>reporter: the door of this west farms apartment in the bronx is covered in black residue, the result of police dusting it for fingerprints after a home invasion. 72-year-old bernardino guerrero says he was unlocking doort to his apartment 11:00 sunday night when two men walked up behind him. guerrero says they pushed him inside his apartment, told him not to look at them and tied him up with you. >> [ speaking spanish. ] >>reporter: he said they were police, he told me. guerrero says he was forced onto the ground while one man ransack the bedroom, searching through dresser drawers. as that was happening, guerrero's 29-year-old son jason walked into the middle of the crime. >> he was so quick that he grabbed my arm, and then put his other hand on my mouth and goes shhh. i couldn't do nothing after that. >>reporter: jason says the suspects put duct tape over his they forced him to the ground with one instruction. >> just to cooperate. they wasn't going to hurt me, you know, they was j

cbs 2's valerie castro joins us live from riverside park. valerie. >> reporter: jessica, police say this is the area the suspect ran into after the slashing at 79th and broadway, just two blocks away from here. this and around 1:30 this afternoon. police say the suspect got into an argument with a man and his child in front of a broadway church. another man helped. that good samaritan was slashed with a knife and the scene where they found the suspect shirt. they brought in a k-9 to track the scent from the shirt but lost the trail. upper west side residents say it's unnerving to see the large police presence in the park in the middle of the day. >> it's scary. this is a nice quiet and even boring area. i mean, it's scary. it's unsettling. but i guess that's thing about new york. you're just one step away from danger all the time. >> reporter: the good samaritan was treated at the scene for a minor injury. he came to the park to help police try and track down the suspect. again, the suspect still has not been found at this time. the man and c

valerie castro spoke to the bicyclist who helped catch him. walks with a cane after a car hit him. the hit and run happened less than a mile away from a murder scene where an imam and his close friend and assistant were gunned down. this video shows the car clip the back tire on hunter's bicycle, throwing him to the ground minutes after those murders. rather than he believes the driver deliberately hit him after growing ?age veyed at -- agitated at traffic while er slowly crossed the street. the car didn't stop but hunter was able to give police part of the license plate number. police tracked down the driver who turned out to be oscar morel. a search of his home turned up the murder weapon. victim's family got their first look at man accused of executing their loved ones in what they believe was a hate crime. time. >> reporter: hunter says his heart goes out to those who lost their loved ones. >> i'm happy i'm still alive. but i feel sorry for the victim's family, you >> reporter: the district attorney says the motist of the crime is still under investigation. but -- motive of the
