it was quite a gun battle here on springs drive in vallejo. police got the call after 7:00 that a total of five people had been shot at tina's nail salon, including a toddler, a little girl sitting on her grandmother's lap. she is in critical, but stable condition this morning. it appears, although police are still trying to sort it out, a female customer of the salon was the target. police say a friend of hers then returned fire. witnesses described the few minutes of terror. >> i don't know outside i heard from the inside then it got louder, i got on the floor and protected my baby. >> they started popping, a lot sound like over 20 shots. they just almost like hit the floor in the house. >> reporter: police have a man in custody. they are looking for more people who were involved. four adults were hit by bullets, all in stable condition, two men and two women. the child is suffering the most from this shootout. police believe she was sitting on her grandmother's lap. they don't know whether the grandmother is the own earth of the salon or a custome

police say six men used a craigslist ad to lure their victims to vallejo home where he was beaten and police thought they tracked the suspects down, but that wasn't the case. allie rasmus joins us live in vallejo with what happened and the continuing search this morning. >> reporter: what brought police to this house here was that police saw a car that was connected to those six armed robbery suspects, parked in front of the home, and that's why they came here. an officer reported seeing those six people walking inside this small house on castlewood drive. police and a s.w.a.t. team surrounded the home and police used a loud speaker to try to make contact with anyone inside. they got no response and that's when the standoff began. this is what it looked like when the scene unfolded yesterday afternoon. at some point police heard popping, crackling noises and noticed a fire had started inside the house. black smoke billowed out of a hole in the roof, and out of the chimney. after the fire police went into the home and discovered no one was inside. at this point police say they don't kn

this morning, police in vallejo are investigating a terrifying shootout.ll. five people, including a 2-year- old girl, were hurt last night on springs road. ktvu's tara moriarty is in vallejo right now. so what are investigators saying this morning, tara? >> reporter: you know, it was an incredibly chaotic scene at tina's nail salon. evidence of that is right in the glass here. you can see that there's a bullet hole. the door has been boarded up. next door at the hair salon if we walk over this way, the violence went on across the domino's pizza and across the street. the violence erupted last night at 7:00. investigators say the man walked in with a gun. his intended target, a female customer getting her nails done. he shot at her, left, then returned to polish off the job. that's when her male friend push pull the out -- pulled out his own gun. >> there were a couple of dozen shell casings recovered. some in the parking lot directly behind me in the nail salon. there were others located down the street and across the street. >> so this was a rolling gun
