brad: has there been a failure of leadership in silicon valley? i think there's been a failure to anticipate some of the consequences of what has happened. i'm not sure any of us would have gotten it right, but perhaps some warning signs that things were devolving were missed early on that could have tempered the situation somewhat. brad: there are canonical leadership qualities in silicon valley that have been prized for so long. certainly steve jobs with his brashness, along with his freshness and creativity. mark zuckerberg is almost epitomized by the phrase "move fast and break things." john: i think we did. "move fast and break things" was fine when you were a small company and you had a small impact when you broke something, or even when you're impact was confined to one sector. when you're impacting the american public at the scale these companies do, breaking things has many unintended consequences. i think we hit another mantra. brad: a lot of the tech companies we write about are very good at tax minimization, avoidance, so what is the r

heavy rain and wind blasted into mill valley around 7:15 this morning. the wind tore down this canopy that was covering a mill valley christmas tree lot. this power pole on panoramic highway is now leaning over, forcing pg&e to shut down the road as they work on repairs. this is round two of the storm. the first wave of wet weather came through in the middle of the night, toppling of this tree in mill valley that landed on top of this pickup truck. no one was hurt. later in the morning, a tree specialist came to survey the damage. this is weather related. the leaves didn't come off this yet and then it rained. that catches water that adds more weight to the tree and then it fell. >> reporter: he could also tell the willow tree was rotten in the middle because of the sawdu sawdust. he said he's gotten at least 30 called today for tree issues. regarding panoramic highway, they say the sll have a ways to go as far as the repairs. they don't think this will be getting back open fully until at least another hour or so. >>> the storm passed through during the

why the livermore valley? is it because there's no wind?at area being impacted so severely? >> it's a one-two effect. we're seeing the very light winds. it's very calm right now. is the first thing. and because it's like a valley, it's like a big bowl. so it is getting trapped in there. if we get a little bit of wind it would help clear it out. but that's the problem across the bay area. we can't get the wind in here to clear the air. but there is some hope in that forecast. you've just got to hang with me here. as we start off our microclimate weather tonight. all of that -- we're used to seeing this shot. and this is fog. but every single bit of this view, that's all the smoke particles we've been breathing in. we're going over this a lot. but today was another one of those days where you open up the door this afternoon and it just smacks you in the face. all the smoke. you smell it. limits your outdoor exposure. that's obvious. keep the car ac on recirculate. get your manual out, find out what that button is. and n95 masks if you can get
