most of the bay if you're inland, whether it's inland north bay east bay valleys or santa clara valley. you've got a heat advisory that goes from tomorrow morning. all the way through wednesday and the other way to message this is to use the heat risk map and you can see the areas on here shaded in orange, which are most of those inland locations have a moderate related risk to heat related health impacts, of course, that deep shades of red in the central valley that shows you where they're dealing with major risk. it's going to be a much more difficult heat wave from that standpoint. for friends and family who are in the central valley or if you've got to be heading that way, let's get into the 70 forecast. we're going to put a couple on here. the 1st 1 will start out with is the inland microclimates in general. and this 1 really does do a good job. of accurately depicting how this is going to go for just about all of our inland locations. so this is north bay inland. this is inland east bay. this is try valley. your numbers will be just a few degrees shy of 100 for the next couple of

you see some of that smoke in the central valley and in and around that fire in the central valley kind of spiraling around. and then tomorrow you see a little more of a northwesterly components of that smoke working its way back into the north bay and possibly the east bay as we head toward tomorrow morning and continuing in the afternoon as looks like things are going to be that way as high pressure builds overhead. that's going start to trap some of those plude especially over the weekend to so we may see hazy conditions by tomorrow afternoon and continue to see that over the weekend as well. guys, back to you know, i lawrence, the richmond city council approved a to put a measure on the november ballot last night. this would increase taxes on the chevron refinery. >> the ballot measure is called the polluters pay initiative. this would create a new tax on oil refining within the city. supporters of the measure claim that the tax could generate 60 to 90 million dollars per year. that could be used to pay for environmental cleanup and health services. for its part, chevron says that t

holland around the bay area, in fact, caught some of the valleys right now. but these temperatures. >> we'll start to cool as early as tomorrow, but not by much so that holland, some of % the valleys to the sea breeze. yeah, starting to kick in. along the coastline, you've got the hazy conditions out there over the bay right now as well. and but the hot temperatures, you bet. how about this today? 100 degrees in concord, 101 in lemore 100 in antioch. 97 degrees for a high in santa rosa. 91 in napa. 98 in nevada on 92 degrees in san jose. 94 amount. you get the idea. sizzling temperatures there across the bay, even inside the bay, many of the valleys along the coastline. yeah. over 40 degrees cooler and a half moon bay. they had a high of only 59 degrees. pretty impressive. heat advisories do remain in effect through 8 o'clock tonight as those hot temperatures going to hold on to the evening hours, especially as you head to the north bay, the east bay and the santa clara valley. cooler temperatures on the way, much a cool temperatures expected to round out the

bay both the areas around the diablo valley like concord and clayton and the walnut creek and the tri-valley applies to all of you. right around 100 for the next two days and then the heat wave breaks. thursday friday and the numbers come down. and you will be in the mid 80s by the weekend we'll get a little bit of a break. but if we do the bay here it doesn't work for us to just broad brush the bay in general. i want to pull out three specifically that i think are very good representatives. let's do the santa clara valley first. so san jose, santa clara, cupertino. los gatos. these are the numbers. low 90s for the next two days. this is different than inland valleys or the bay and you can see the cooldown here in the middle of the week. one more microclimate in here. redwood city you are going to be the representative for the peninsula. and the east bay shore for alameda county. those numbers are mid- to upper 80s for the next few days and cooling down to the mid 70s in the last one we'll show you is oakland. just to show you the influence that an on shore breeze can have. all right, reed.

so certainly 20 degrees above average for some of those inland valleys out there. but the great news, we are going to start to see some cooler changes as soon as tomorrow. let me get you the latest right now on our microclimate forecast. and just in case you missed it, we'll show you the top temperatures coming into my forecast here. pleasanton got up to 100 degrees. you saw those car thermometers really spike up, especially if you live near the bay and you're commuting to the inland valleys for work. walnut creek, 100. campbell 100. livermore 100, and concord, also right there at 99. so with this kind of heat across our inland valleys, it certainly is going to cool off pretty slowly tonight. so still plenty of water this evening just so you can stay hydrated. it can just kind of catch up with you pretty fast in this kind of temperatures. so check it out six 7:00 here in walnut creek, for example, we're staying in the 90s. we'll be in the 80s 8:00 and 9:00 tonight. so very, very warm this evening and then some 70s do start to get in by ten. and also 11:00. but as i

he spent a lot time in the valley at points at various places. he witnessed war being waged against civilians. nearly three decades after the conflict, or took time to reflect on those war time experiences and to really offer up those experiences to future generations as lessons. about first and foremost, what it means go to war, and then how consists of much more than armies fighting each other on a battlefield. i think quite frankly, reading orr's postwar writings, he was very bothered by how things were becoming romantic, ized. and he and his comrades did not see war as something romantic. they saw it as tragic and cataclysmic. a lesson be learned from one of the reasons i love orr's writing is because he puts on what i teach to my students all the time. that history is a powerful lesson, is a great teacher. you need to have history that is usable to learn from. and he certainly thinks that the civil war is something that people can learn. i think it's clear. after reading his reflection on the burning in the valley that he thought the campaig

but the heat advisory is on for our inland valleys. from danville and livermore, the hills, napa by the delta and down around san jose and gilroy will see temperatures well into the 90s. how about upper 90s? but with this fog here, as it's compressed, it's providing for a very tricky morning along the coast, and it's going to provide that cooling throughout the morning as well and into the afternoon in spots 51 san francisco 49 half moon bay. good morning, oakland 55 for you. and redwood city at the airport you'll get a nice sea breeze, but still, redwood city will be in the upper 80s today. 55 in fairfield, 100 this afternoon. that delta breeze pretty light, but there will be a breeze today. 48 in petaluma. and as we go through the next couple of hours this morning, 60s and 70s by 9:00, by 1 p.m, low to mid 90s inland. so it's a quick warm up. we'll see 80s around the bay shore, but you'll get a bit of a sea breeze. and look at that fog staying put from just around ocean beach right through half moon bay today. so we'll talk about tha

the valley would be pretty warm. low one hundreds and right through the weekend. so the temperatures right now it has dropped a little walnut creek, though at this time of night is 80 degrees, 81 degrees in concord. so it starts off warm tomorrow and you start off in the mid 60s, probably upper 60s. you're going to end up easily into the low one hundreds again tomorrow. so these are the highs forecast for tomorrow. we're looking at temperatures that are going to be pretty similar to what we had today. and then the five day forecast you can see what we have here. the warm to hot temperatures that are going to last right through wednesday thursday you see the cooling begin which is awesome. and then friday, saturday and sunday it's just a typical summer day. it's not going to be crazy hot, but it was i mean, today was really hot. tomorrow is going to be really hot. thursday is going to be very warm. and then friday, saturday and sunday are going to be. hey, this is what it's supposed to be like. so fire danger is highe

california up through the san joaquin valley up through the sacramento valley and even into our ownhat's in effect has been in effect for a couple days. it stays in effect through friday at 8 o'clock. some areas of the bay area are in the heat watch. so we do have an advisory in effect through tomorrow night at midnight. that's where parts of the north bay east bay and south bay. it's going to be hot again. but again, the cooling trend has begun. so that's the good news. the coastal outlook, if you think you're going escape all the heat and escape all your problems by heading the coast. all dangerous lurks there. and in fact, there's a risk of sneaker waves. those are really powerful waves that can show up suddenly and unexpectedly. so that's a real danger. if you're going to be a beachcomber tomorrow overnight lows mainly in the 50 should be a beautiful overnight evening. and then we're looking at temperatures again, cooler a few 90's, 94 degrees for livermore. 85 in concord, the forecast for tomorrow. 77 degrees in napa and 63 degrees in san francisco. a look ahead. this is the 10

that is the vantage point above the santa clara valley.g down, we're looking east obviously on the hills on the west side. san jose, you are down there. and so everybody else. mountain view, santa clara, and there's your sun coming up over the diablo range. sunrise officially this morning was 5:48. this is the golden time of the morning hour. we are watching the marine layer though trying to build back in from our other vantage point. now back down on the roadway, this is the scene near the toll booth for the golden gate bridge. that's the marine layer right there. couple of things about that. one it's there. so first of all, it's -- we've got a cool on shore influence but two, it's pretty high. no fog here. just a stratus cloud streaming in and getting pretty far inland and in terms of in ability to kind of fill in parts of napa valley and really deliver a cooling influence today. so let's just look at where the daytime highs are going to be as a result of this. if you notice the cooldown yesterday, you are going to take a few more degree

we're talking here about second harvest of silicon valley. they serve 500,000 people each month in santa clara and san mateo counties. today they tell us their job just got more difficult. they're going to have to leave their biggest warehouse, some 90,000ft■!s on brennan street in san jose, because of a looming rent hike. that's going to make it harder logistically to store and distribute food. this, while one in every six people here now depend on the food bank for assistance every single week we receive more than 85 tractor trailer loads of food. all of that food gets handled at our warehouses and goes back into the community. and unfortunately, this is our largest facility that we are we are closing. and so we're having to just figure out how we can make have that work get done other places, you know, and they say the need going up recently, even as our overall economy here is strong inflation hitting families. and many of those families relying on the food bank still. so i think probably what everyone is watching is thinking everyone in

so not as hot for the livermore valley. san ramon.slowly, the latter part of the week, maybe even a little more pronounced as that fog. and a system sets up to the north and west of us allows for more cooling, not big dramatic changes throughout the week ahead. mainly today with the cool down and that sea breeze up to about 25 miles an hour. a little breezy at times. the winds through the delta this afternoon san francisco at about 26 miles an hour and you can watch the fog as it continues to try to clear the coast. it does so from the marin county coast, but then kind of stops as it gets to san mateo. should be sunny, though. san francisco at ocean beach, but cool with that sea breeze and some limited sun there for pacifica. half moon bay mid 90s today for livermore. average highs in the mid 80s, so still a warm one, but cooler than yesterday. and then looking at that temperature drop off a little bit into your monday tuesday even more so. and then by the middle of the week we'll see temperatures bottoming out in the low 80s. 70s for
