. >> i want to bring in ken cutch nellie and van jones. van, do you agree with senator harris?e obviously. you've seen people like meek mill, served more time, been on probation for years and years. he got a two-year return to prison sentence for popping a wheelie. for lifting his motorcycle's wheel off the ground, he got two years for that. when you have that kind of stuff going on in communities across america, it's very, very difficult for us who are used to seeing big sentences come down for small stuff to see something this big go down. the other thing i wanted to say, usually if you wind up lying to the feds, play silly games with the feds, you get a house dropped on you. forget it, nobody is going to come to your aid ands are kus. the idea he not only did the underlying crimes but he's not been honest with the feds, he's getting away with that. hopefully next week there will be an adjustment. but those who know how justice is meted out, especially in poor communities, is shocked by that sentence. >>> ken, what do you think of that? if you're a white man with money, can a

president, one of the best things he is done in a bipartisan basis -- and you will hear this later with van jones setback,schlapp, the the family. you people disproportionally pulled away with these mandatory sentences for nonviolent crimes and unable to reunite husbands and wives and children. now when you see people like matthew charles who got a lot agree when he was in prison, who had a 35 year sentence that was disproportionate to his crime now being able to come into the community and be with this family, those are the things the president is doing to help the family. think about the 4.6 million people often stamps. what does that mean for family? we talk about statistics all the time. think about what that means for someone able to make a good wage, able to provide for themselves and what that will mean for their children. that is what our party is about. then the late-term abortion. it is not a late-term abortion. it is murder. it is murder what ralph northam talked about. we need to speak about it in those terms. when you hear a democrat saying, let the baby be born, keep it comfortable

just doing everything i was supposed to do. >> van jones, i want to bring you into the conversation.this story like many of us did in the new haven and yale papers. you think this runs counter to the idea of the justice, in quotation marks, system we have in place. >> absolutely. the whole point of the corrections system is to correct people. how can you say at this point 13 years later this man needs correction when he's done everything right? as best we can tell he doesn't even have an overdue library book. he's living better than me and you, doing all the things you want someone to do. if you're going to say this person after 13 years of doing nothing wrong, rebuilding his life has to go back and do time, you have literally millions of people out here supposed to do the right thing. what's to say in five, ten, 20 years somebody will go through the sock drawer and put them back in jail. this doesn't make sense. when somebody has rehabilitated themselves, that's the whole point. he's done time. he should get credit for that and get more credit for 13 years out of trouble. you know t

also cnn's van jones. gentlemen, good evening. thank you so much for joining us.he attorney first. so you have some news about demetrius' case. can you share it with us? >> yes. i spoke to the bureau of prisons today, the commutation department and the u.s. attorney from the eastern district of pennsylvania. they both confirmed that demetrius is receiving credit for his time at liberty, and therefore the federal government considers his 16-month sentence served. >> are you confident that this is all resolved? is there a risk of this, that it could be changed? >> look, i'll feel much more comfortable when i get that in writing hopefully on monday. but the news i got late today, getting it from those two sources, i feel very confident that that risk is gone. >> you want to see it in the u.s. marshal to meet nine days ago, lost 15 pounds, the stress is extraordinary for you. how are you feeling tonight with this information? >> i'm feeling grateful, overjoyed, totally overjoyed. and feeling like my faith. >> you seem cautious though. >> i am because i'm cautious only

van jones is here, alice stewart as well. good evening to both of you.rr's summary on the mueller report, our very own van jones warned that we shouldn't expect mueller to be harry potter for the report and to be a magic wand that will fix everything. and i think that barr's summary is out. a lot of folks on the left, that certainly didn't happen. so what's your reaction? and we've said this. didn't we say this on friday? >> i've been trying to tell folks for a long time. there's no santa claus. there's no harry potter with a magic wand. and i can't tell you how many people over the years have come up to me, serious people, with their hearts broken, saying, when bob mueller comes, man, he's going to get trump, trump's going to be out of there. van, how many more days do you think trump has left? eight years if we don't start working on issues and stop talking about mueller all the time. i think there is an honest level of sadness and disappointment and disorientation among progressive and democrats. i think it goes deeper than just what's in the report.

tough to imagine van jones testifying of criminal justice reform, that would not have happened at cpacrea, the media criticized him for that, you could also praise him from walking away from the table, a bad deal is not better than no deal. comment i made on air on how long it took him to get to summit site in vietnam versus trying to talk counterparts to getting there. >> this president is very different than other presidents, most presidents or leaders, by the time they go to negotiating table, they know what the deal is, they are not going to be doing this in front of people. he does things very publicly, when you think about the government shutdown and he invited everyone in the room and wanted everyone to see this. the fact that he walked away, sign of strength, he thought he was doing the right thing and expect today get applauded and he didn't and it's frustrating to him but i think we will see that the republicans in cpac and all the folks behind him, lining up behind him, no deal is better than a bad deal. >> the one thing that trump he goes on anger, confusion.
