i take the van ness underground and walk the corridor from octavia to van ness almost every day. and a lot of thoughts. going back to what commissioner antonini was talking about i was in europe and my experience is different. from are membership car tree boulevards that are thriving and violates. transit runs through them. you have areas where there's basically preves where the train runs through it. they don't have to have separations and it works peacefully. there's bicycle tracks that go through. those areas are vibrant and interesting. one of the things that's going to be important is looking at design principles we put in place for buildings and ground floor frontages. what frustrates me walking down market street particularly from octavia to van ness is the obscured ground floor locations and i think that enforcement abilityd working with property owners along that corridor to really liven those ground floors will help a lot with eyes on the street and kind of the more feeling of the access to the street. the other thing, in terms of street furniture i think there's much m

one thing to note is vehicles used on the van ness rftb will be included here, they're asterisked here we will purchase 15 60 foot hybrid motor coaches and 23 60 foot trolley motor coaches. there is the lines that run the different type vehicles, we will need to make two procurements to operator the van ness scheduled project. this is shown to come in sometime in 2014. this gives you a little sense where the funding for those procurements come from. this is specifically for the upcoming procurement of 57 vehicles that was mentioned on the previous slide. so typically you have the -- how these are funded is we receive federal grants because of limitations on amount of funding available within the region, so we also have to bank together several years of federal grants, then come in for prop k as the match. the other difference in this funding plan is we were successful in getting an fta discretionary grant for state of repair needs. this will specifically be used to replace the fairly old buses running on the annex today, they will have new vehicles that they can provide that service. s

if you have to go down and take a street, pine, and then go to van ness, and then down to market, it's easier just to go to market and diagonal down. saves gas too. anyway, i never been a total car-free person anyway. i have a question, -- not a question an observation. if you allow paratransit and other, like delivery and taxis, how are you going to treat the new form of urban -- they're not called taxis, this iewber, whoever those other guys are with the mustache on the front of the car. there are at least three or four that i think have started up. so that's a consideration, unless there is some way to identify them, i guess if you have a mustache in front of your car, that's an easy way to identify it. but i think if somebody like me participants in one of those other programs and just uses my car, then there's no readily available way to identify who i am. so that's something -- i don't know if those will last but it's a phenomenon that cropped up. it just came to mind. also in terms of your nodes, it seems like one other aspect of considering where the city might spend it's money
