i did a site visit before this hearing today on van ness, i mean, on golden gate. you know, just like my brother had said, we saw the postings initially, and we are kinda confused about which trees are going to be removed. it seems to be a moving target in san francisco. which trees will be removed, how does the public get to decide, when they come to a meeting, how prepared they can be, because they are not sure which trees are going to be removed until the last minute, if that is even brought up at the meeting. and, you know, i really don't like the idea that this is a social t station is only going to be for a certain type of car. and, we've already lost a lot of trees along the van ness corridor which is highway when, which is, you know, right next to it. you know, i don't know what else to say, you know, there went to a places where more trees can be planted. we should find some ways to mitigate this in a baiter -- better way. you should use your broad powers, because this is not going to be the first, or the last time trees are being removed and severance dis

that is primarily for three major items, 49 south van ness, digital services, and s.f. permit. if you look at the second page, and you look under expenditures, you will see services of other departments. that would be on the last item before you get to the total, and you are at 18 million and now we're at 36 million. most of the things that were added to the budget were basically work orders from other departments. forty-nine south van ness, real estate had some work orders and the city administrator had some work orders, brent is in there, too, so that is primarily the biggest increase that we potentially made to the budget when you approved it. >> so it is 26 now? is that the one you are looking at? >> i'm looking at 2019, if you look at the second page of the budget, the number under account is 58103, now it is 36. >> thirty-six, i see. >> the net has increased about $20 million. >> got it. >> okay, then there's one other item that was included, and this is when the board received the budget. so we had about $700,000 in cuts that were minor. they were basically some cuts to

we are spending billions of dollars to reconstruct transit on van ness avenue. if we make the transit situation worse by not dealing with uber and lyft and everyone who does dropoffs like private buses and don't go to the state as a city to say we need some relief and policy to be approved, this is a mitigation measure. one of the major mitigation measures is city getting a handle on controlling t.m.c.s, uber and lyft. second very specific one, i don't understand what ty the analysis of transit doesn't blue the buses. anyone who's a realist knows that they are a major vehicle distribution point in this city. the market plan was done in 2008. the eastern neighborhood plan was done in 2008. the downtown plan was done in 1985. i will have a lot of written comments. one thing you might consider is extending the comment period a couple of days. >> thank you. any public comment on this item? okay. public comment is now closed. any comments from our fellow commissioners? okay. i will say -- i do have comments. i think that several of the speakers said things that i agr

continue the existing route. 47 van ness, will run in coordination of the townsend project. clear reasons proposing changes to 5th street, the outreach process started in october of 2017 and the last major outreach event in april of 2019. total, six major events, informal community events, door to door, and over 40 meetings with stakeholders. not done yet. we will keep communication open through evaluation process, so we can understand concerns and make tweaks in the field to the quick build project. the slide has a lot of text on it, but the goal is to look at the feedback for the project and ultimately gain support for the changes. the initial outreach included a survey to understand public desire for changes. received over 300 survey responses, we heard improving bicycle safety was critical to improving 5th street. and a strong desire for pedestrian safety improvements. we asked people to be specific about ranking their entired changes, understanding the street has limited horizontal real estate and cannot fit everything. protected bike lanes, and pedestrian safety improv

on sunday, september 8th, we also had a shooting in the 300 block of venice -- van ness. of those shootings are under investigation so we hope to bring them to resolution. again, if the public has any information regarding any of those violent acts, please call us. in terms of traffic, we have four major injuries collisions over the past week. vehicle versus pedestrian were our biggest causes of accidents or collisions. three of our four major injuries were vehicle versus pedestrian. we had a 12-year-old child struck at golden gate. this occurred on september 10 th, yesterday. it resulted in an arrest of the driver for driving under the influence. the child was transported and is in serious condition. we also had vehicle versus pedestrian collision that occurred at sixth and harrison. almost 6:00 in the morning. that vehicle, that pedestrian also was transported with serious injuries and is expected to survive. on september 6th, we had another vehicle versus pedestrian on mission street in ingleside district. this occurred at 9:45 p.m. in the evening, and that victim is a
