[applause]. it is going to open.dozens of quick build projects to move buses faster. to create protected bike lanes across the city over the last three years. that is climate action. san francisco can also be the economic leader our state needs us to be. we have to work at it. for too long we have taken our economic success for granted. we assumed the offices would be built. conventions would come to town and taxes with strome in. i have been talking to business leaders across the city. they love this city. they want to invest. they want to support. they want san francisco to grow and to succeed. when i put out the call to businesses about committing to bring workers back into the offices. so many answers. they are investing and they are returning. what i have heard most from business leaders just as i have heard from residents and small business owners is that we need to continue to improve the conditions on our streets. our work in the tenderloin has attracted a lot of attention. supervisor haney was talking about

has been hosting a variety of events to try to attract new workforce including south van ness and participating in the city wide career fair that's sunday. so far they've been able to get 254 candidates to sign up at in the house events as well as whole bunch of others at the sunday event. we reengaged the city drive program, really critical pre-apprenticeship program for attracting new operators. we do this in collaboration with the office of economic development and nonprofit spaces s.f. which is a family support organization as well as mission hiring hall who serve moderate to low income job seekers and the city program helps applicants becoming qualified in their application including the dealing with issues like commercial driver's license. the city drive partners attended all of these events in april and as a result, we were able to register 134 applicants for the two week program. that will then make them ready to come to the sfmta with their full credentials for becoming operators. also i want to report that between march 1st and april 22nd, we're able to hire 69 new transit operators a

it all happened on market and van ness blocks from san francisco city hall a viewer says there were athe middle of the street. is unclear who set off the fireworks or if any damage was done to nearby cars and buildings. some 400 guns are now off the streets of santa clara county following a gun buyback event. the district attorney's office board of supervisors and police department held today's buyback at the milpitas community center. they paid $100 for a pistol shotgun or rifle and $200 for a ghost gun or a salt weapon. people could remain anonymous when turning in a firearm the district attorney's office explained why events like this are important. every time there was a narcotics investigation or a sales case made they're usually was a firearm associated with it and unregistered firearm a ghost gun one that was reported stolen or lost. there is a proliferation of firearms, especially ghost guns. so if we can get rid of these firearms that are unwanted in people's homes, we think it'll make the community much safer. almost 300 firearms were turned in during the last gun buyback the
